A great day today at Rawhitiroa School, getting amongst it with some of our fellow rural schools!

The weather played ball, our kids’ behaviour was fantastic, and the steak sandwiches were absolutely on point!

A huge thanks to the team at Rawhitiroa School for putting on such an awesome event. A brilliant day of competition, connection and fun for our tamariki!

The Ministry of Education is trialling a new Maths Practice website for Years 3–8, available until December this year.

The site is a great way to support your child to practise and strengthen the maths they have been learning at school.

A few tips for using it at home:

Start with the year level your child has just completed, rather than the year level they are moving into.
Keep sessions short and regular - around 10–15 minutes, 3–5 times a week.
Work through the activities together where possible, helping to build confidence and understanding.
After each question or puzzle, a summary page will suggest useful next steps.
The site works on a phone, tablet or laptop.

⚽🏐 Year 7/8 Winter Tournament

A great day for our Year 7/8 students at the Taranaki Interschool Winter Tournament in Hāwera on Friday!

Our football team had 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 narrow loss, before winning their semi-final to earn a spot in the final against Egmont Village at a later date (TBC). The team worked hard, supported each other brilliantly and represented Ngaere School proudly and fairly.

Our netball players also had a great day — photos and a write-up to come!

2027 Enrolments

Planning ahead for 2027? Ngaere School is now welcoming out-of-zone enrolment applications for next year.

If you live within our home zone and have a child who will be joining us in 2027, please let us know as soon as possible to help with our planning.

We encourage all whānau to explore and connect with their local schools to help make an informed decision about the best fit for your tamariki.

It’s been a pretty cool week for our tamariki at Ngaere School!

We had The NED Show visit, bringing plenty of laughs alongside some great messages about resilience, encouraging others and doing your best.

We also welcomed the Taranaki Bulls to kura. A big mihi to the team at Matahio for making this happen, and for the posters, flags, cookies and tickets to the upcoming Canterbury game!

Two very different experiences, but both pretty special opportunities for our tamariki. We’re really lucky to have people and organisations willing to give their time and tautoko to our kura.

Looking ahead to next week, it’s a fairly standard week at Ngaere. Our Middle Hub will be getting stuck into their House of Science kits, while some of our Year 7/8 ākonga head to Hāwera to represent our kura at the Taranaki Winter Sports Tournament.
