This is my first exhibited artwork. I was 16 years old (I’m not great at maths but I think that’s a whopping 42 years ago !).

I don’t have many of my early drawings and paintings left. When I was in my early twenties my flat was broken into and my portfolio of art was stolen. The thief probably had no idea what was in it and I imagine they just burnt them.

It didn’t really affect me much at the time, but as I’ve gotten older and more sentimental, I really miss them. Those precious early drawings mean so much more to me now.

This one survived because my mum had it.

She had it framed at Fishers Gallery — which at the time was VERY smart indeed — and then she submitted it to the CSA (Canterbury Society of Arts Gallery ) in Christchurch for me. It got selected.

My first exhibition at 16 years old . And I think it was the moment I knew I was never going to be anything other than an artist.

My piece of advice to any young or new artists of any age .. don’t throw anything away . Keep hold of all those early drawings .

Thank you, Mum. This one will always be so special to me. 🤍

You’re invited … Swipe to see the 12 artworks that have made the final cut for my October solo exhibition — a mix of big, immersive works (some over 2 metres long!) and a few smaller, more intimate pieces.

Seeing them in a grid like this is one thing, but up close and personal you get the layers, texture , the drips, the soft pinks pushing through the greens. They really need to be felt in person.

Be the first to view the artworks and listen to my Artist talk about my processes and what inspired me. See up close the artwork that was nominated in an international art exhibition in August at No 35 Gallery , London .

I would LOVE to see you there.

If you’d like an invite to opening night, simply send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll add you to my VIP list.

Opening Night 7pm Friday 25th September Te Huanui Darfield Art Gallery

Open to public Sat 26 September - 29 October 2026

Can’t wait to share them with you.

Term 4 will be the 6th year of my student mentorship program . Congratulations to Phoebe Herschell who is the recipient of the award this year . What a lovely email to wake up to on Thursday morning “YOUR WORK HAS BEEN SELECTED “ .

I’ve been working so hard this year on my body of work , often feeling at times that I am shouting into the void so it’s wonderful to have my work validated .

I’m excited to announce that my artwork “‪Moments of clarity rising from memories‬ “ has been selected to be part of Water International Group online Exhibition 2026 at No. 35 Gallery, London

There were over 1300 submissions from more than 87 countries so I’m feeling very proud 💚🌸 and I’m dancing my way into the weekend 🎉🥂.
