I have just tonight completed the Theory side of The Modern Master Groomer course by Groomwise Academy NZ and wow, what an eye opening experience it has been!

This course is so different from standard training. It teaches equally important things that often aren’t covered when learning to groom, going deep into canine anatomy, microbiology, coat and skin health, the canine microbiome, body language, infection control, decoding shampoo ingredient labels, in-depth salon hygiene, and overall canine wellbeing. It's about understanding the dog as a whole, not just the haircut. ✨

For me, grooming has never just been about a pretty cosmetic finish or a sharp style. It’s about a better understanding of the living, breathing animal on my table, working with their body, and protecting their physical and emotional wellbeing, they are our babies after all!

Stepping into this knowledge means I can be a much more informed partner in your dog's care team, making sure your pups feel as safe, comfortable, and healthy as possible!

Huge Congratulations to Michelle!
We are so incredibly proud of our newest grooming student, Michelle, for completing her intensive, structured two-week course!
Michelle didn’t just observe, she dove headfirst into the deep end. Over the last fortnight, she bathed 26 dogs and sat in on numerous professional demonstrations. Along with her hands-on tuition, she also successfully completed two of our comprehensive online grooming courses, ensuring she has the solid theory to match her practical talent.
From the fundamentals of bathing and drying to full, complete grooms, Michelle has shown exceptional skills and focus. Throughout our curriculum, she mastered de-shedding double coats to perfection, straightening wool coats for a flawless finish, and managing various drop coats and combination coats. She even observed hand stripping and mastered the art of careful hand-drying and brushing.
Beyond the technical work, Michelle was a complete natural when it came to the health and safety aspects of our course. She handled every dog with the love and kindness that we promote here, ensuring each pup felt safe and cared for.
The confidence she has built in such a short time is amazing to see. With her dedication to both her online studies and her physical technique, we know she is going to be an absolute asset to the grooming industry!

This is a two week intensive programme designed for real salon work.
95 percent practical training in a real working professional salon.
The remaining 5 percent is structured theory, theory assessment and certification.
