Last night I had the pleasure of speaking at the Tapanui Dinner Club about the Hammond Davidson journey.
Fifteen years ago Kylie Davidson and I sitting outside with a glass of wine in hand, watching our two little boys splash about in the paddling pool, working out how on earth we were going to do this. No boardroom. No business case. Just two mums who wanted to build a business that worked around our families.
We opened the doors in March 2011 in Riversdale with a shoe box office, a handful of clients and a box of flyers. Our husbands joked we'd need Rubix cubes to fill in our first day.
Fifteen years on, we're four offices across Southland, with a team we're incredibly proud of. Amanda Morris joined us nearly 4 years ago and now heads our Gore office. And in April, Alice and Jack Perniskie joined us and we opened the office in Winton.
What I spoke about last night, and what I still believe, is that the small stuff is the whole thing. Turning up. Ringing back. Saying the hard thing kindly. Doing what you said you'd do, in a place where everybody knows whether you did.
