We have been exploring reflection and light here. One magical way we did so was by painting with watercolours directly onto mirrors. We could see our own kanohi (faces) in the paintings, watching the colours mix and swirl as our imaginations transformed the pieces. The paint wiped off easily, allowing new ideas. A child had drawn a watermelon. When he began wiping it away, he said it was disappearing because he was eating it.

We were absolutely thrilled to share such a magical morning with our Marlborough community as we officially opened our Nurture@Home Fairy Grove on Saturday. 🧚‍♀️✨

It was so special seeing tamariki and whānau exploring the grove, enjoying the magic and celebrating this beautiful new space with us — and of course, no Fairy Grove opening would be complete without a real-life fairy joining us! Faerie Lou 💕🧚‍♀️

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so wonderful. We loved sharing it with you and can’t wait to see the Fairy Grove enjoyed by our community for years to come. 🌿✨

✨✨ To celebrate Matariki we have begun setting goals and sending wishes to the star Hiwa-i-te-rangi. Today one of the children used our emotion cards to create a mandala/circle on the floor and said it was the wishing star. She invited the others to stand in the middle one at a time and make their wish. ✨✨

The tamariki have been hard at work in te mara (the garden) over the last week, preparing a garden bed, planting daffodil bulbs and sprinkling flower seeds in another spot. This builds a connection to Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and supports development- using muscle and coordination to dig, sustain focus over a period of days, seeing a project through til the end, and using mahi tahi (team work). And when they bloom everyone will be even more proud of their work!
