Exploration using solids and liquids. The tamariki enjoyed excavating insects from ice using paint brushes. They were able to see how ice melts with both temperature and time. This experience also helps to develop patience. Transferring water using eye droppers and scoops into larger containers. This activity promotes early science concepts such as measurement and quantity.

Rātū 5 o Hōngongoi 2022: today the tamariki enjoyed different ways to be creative and expressive. They helped to make the climbing fort colourful with chalk, contributing to their environment. They also used the patterned paint rollers to create artwork. We then decorated tanzaku, getting ready to celebrate the Japanese festival called Tanabata or star festival on Thursday. We will write our wishes on the colourful Tanzaku and then hang them on tree branches.
