COMMUNICATION IS AN ART — AND A BUSINESS SKILL
Communication is one of the most important skills you can develop — whether you are leading a team, managing a business, working with clients, or dealing with service providers and contractors.
Great communication creates clarity, confidence and accountability.
Before you communicate, take a moment to ask yourself:
What do I want to communicate?
Why does it need to be communicated?
What outcome do I want to achieve?
What does that outcome look like?
What are the timeframes?
Be clear. Be concise. Be specific.
Don't assume people understand what you mean. Make sure expectations, responsibilities, outcomes and timeframes are clearly understood.
And importantly, communication is a two-way process. Give people the opportunity to ask questions, clarify expectations and provide feedback.
Whether you're communicating with your team, your management, your clients or your suppliers — great communication builds trust, strengthens relationships and gets better results.
Communication isn't about saying more.
It's about making sure what matters is understood.
