On this particular day we decided not to pull anything out of the shed for the tamariki. Instead, we left the door open and they went in and explored and decided themselves what they wanted out.
Hula hoops were the play item of choice by one child. Although she didn't use them for that purpose, but they dont need to be either 🙂
They were engaged in their play here for atleast 20minutes before moving on to the monkey bars.
Something so simple, turned into a wonderful learning opportunity. There were lots of chats about how to make it, problem solving when the hoops were too far apart, lots of counting and lots of core strength used to keep them upright.
How wonderful it is to watch a child's imagination grow from something so simple.

Tamariki love a bit of messy play! And even cooler when our smallest babes can join in too.

Messy play promotes fine motor skill development. It encourages finger dexterity, hand and shoulder strength – skills all necessary for handwriting in the future. Messy play also helps with body balance and spatial awareness, enhancing gross motor skills.

We love that here at playcentre we can get messy and learn at the same time 😃

We are open again! Woo-hoo. Come down and have a play with us 😎

✨✨✨On Friday evening we had our annual Matariki celebration.
Our evening began with stories and lots of chats about the individual stars and how they connect to the world we live in. There was also lots of waiata from our Tamariki.
We planted our new fruit tree this year which will bear fruit for many years to come for future Tamariki to enjoy here at playcentre.

After our shared Kai our Tamariki rugged up and headed outside for a game of star rock hunting by tourch light. We then toasted marshmallows and made smores by the fire side.

Our evening ended with lots of chats, story telling and cups of hot chocolate and non alcoholic mulled wine by the fire side.

Here's to the year ahead ✨✨✨

Well....you wash the dishes of course 😉

Last week our Tamariki got to make vegetable soup and takakau bread to enjoy at playcentre.
They thoroughly enjoyed the process from start to finish.
