Selah Ministries NZ

Selah Ministries NZ Do you feel a bit stuck in your relationship with God? Do you feel like you've hit a wall? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me.

My desire for this ministry is to help you meet God through the power of the word of God (the Bible) and the Holy Spirit to help you live in freedom from those things that hold you back and stop you living the abundant life Jesus has planned for you. Do you have some issues that you've never taken the time to deal with or have tried but it's never felt truly dealt with? Selah (pronounced se'-leh)

is about providing a space to stop and seek God about where to from here. Using my experience as a pastor, parent and friend and training as a biblical counsellor, it would be a privilege and joy to journey with you as you find greater depths of peace and grace in your relationship with God.

“Are you tired? Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

I believe one of the major struggles we face in our walk with God is yielding. We wrestle with our flesh (soul) to live according to what God wants from us. This was of course the problem Adam and Eve faced in the garden. They wanted to trust God, to yield to Him, but put their own needs first. The happiest and most joyful Christians I know have gone through this process of yielding and come out the other side. This is what santification is and causes us to become more like Jesus.

My vision for Selah Ministries is to provide a space and support to those who want to live freer and yielded to God. This post from Global Prophetic Alliance provides a beautiful yet challenging prayer to pray.

Yield to Me

My people: do not doubt that I am in control.

I am the great I AM, and when you place your trust in me you cannot be torn apart by the schemes of this world. You may shake and feel the quake, but when you are rooted firmly in me you will not be swept away.

The question then is do you trust me? For today I am asking you to yield yourself to me. Do you give me permission to blow away the things in your life that you do not need to carry? Will you yield to me, giving me the space I need to move?

Let me blow away the things that are heavy and burdensome. Yield yourself to me and the work I am doing within and around you. Recognize that I am shaping you to be the strong, fierce vessel you were created to be.

Prayer: Father, I give you permission to blow away the things in my life that belong to the past season. No matter how uncomfortable it may make me feel, I declare now, with all of my heart, that I trust you! Where you lead, I will follow. I yield myself to your ways, knowing that they are higher than my own. You are trustworthy God and I yield to you!

1 Chronicles 29:11 (NIV)

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.

Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

Psalm 37:5-6 (MSG)

Open up before God, keep nothing back;

he’ll do whatever needs to be done:

He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day

and stamp you with approval at high noon.

I chose the word Selah (pronounced se'-leh) as the name for this ministry to represent the importance of pausing, to reflect on God's word as the means to make meaningful change. Doing this has helped me process and come to terms with events and experiences which I've struggled with. Spending time in our Father's presence is the foundation of everything.

Selah!

‘God will establish it for ever. Selah.’ Psalm 48:8 KJV

Seventy-one times in the book of Psalms we read the word ‘Selah’ at the end of a Scripture. What does it mean? To ‘pause and calmly think about it’. You can’t rush into Bible revelation. You can’t skim the surface and discover the treasure hidden within it. That’s why David wrote, ‘With my whole heart I have sought you: Oh, let me not wander from your commandments. Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you’ (Psalm 119:10-11 NKJV). When you hide God’s word in your heart through meditation and memorisation, you’re able to stand on it when you have a particular need.

Meditation involves taking time to reflect; to ‘selah’, to ‘pause and calmly think about it’. It’s a time-tested method God put in place for you. He wants you to learn to pray the Scriptures and meditate on them because these habits will help you to experience all he has for you.

The most important thing you can ask yourself when you face life’s challenges is, ‘What does God say about this in his word?’ Why is asking that important? Read these two Scriptures, and you will find the answer: ‘Your word is settled in Heaven’ (Psalm 119:89 NKJV). ‘The word of our God stands forever’ (Isaiah 40:8 NKJV). God’s word is his will! When God called Jeremiah to leadership, Jeremiah had reservations about his ability. So God said, ‘I have put my words in your mouth’ (Jeremiah 1:9 NKJV). Then he told Jeremiah, ‘I am ready to perform my word’ (Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV). You can count on God keeping his word. Selah!

In our home group we have been deep diving into the book of Ephesians. For any change to take place in our lives, we need to know who we are and who's we are. Did you know that you as Christ followers, you are seated in heavenly places with Jesus - right now! How does knowing this change how you approach your life today?

Welcome to Selah Ministries NZ. My name is Andrea. I am a wife and mum of 2 teenage boys. Over the last year, the Lord has given me a new vision and guided me into starting this ministry. I want people to experience the healing power of God so they can walk in freedom to do what He has called them to do. This may mean healing relationships, changing up your spiritual life, or helping you find your purpose. Through my own journey of supporting a child struggling with mental health, I have a passion and desire to help parents find comfort and joy through this difficult journey.
