April School holiday drama programme 😲😁!!

The children will be learning drama skills - cooperation, imagination, perseverance, production, costuming, creativity, storyline, media, collaboration!!
This programme is for school-aged children only. The cost for each day is $35.00 per child and a family discount is available if more than one family member enrols.

All classes (asides the at-school classes) are held in the Tall Poppies studio - room 200 on the top floor of the Square Edge building, Church St, Palmerston North.

Oh!! What an incredible show Lollyland was!
Attached here is the video of the first half... and a thing to note is the absolute commitment of the junior actors to their roles!! It is astounding to watch their energy, every single actor being their character!! So beautiful to see 😁😍🤩!!

We (the kids) make up stories and we costume, prop, ACT and film them!! It's heaps of fun, extraordinarily creative... Plus - your own stories are brought to life and recorded forever more 😁!! What could be better! We make three films each day based on a wide'ish variety of motivations (as wide as we can go - which is quite quite wide).

AI and robotics have taken jobs from almost all of the adults in Palmerston North. The only company hiring are Greet's Sweets and they're the worst, most horrible, mean and cruel bosses in the whole of Manawatu. Their sweets are just this side of legal and edible. And Greet's Sweets only hire children - so they can pay them minimally and treat them badly.

When Winnie Winter (retraining as a virtual Green City Guide) falls ill and the Winters risk losing their home, the Winter children do what only children can do ... Work. For Greet's Sweets. Is this the beginning of the end for the Winters? Grandpa Pat Winter - in the first stages of Alzheimers - always says, "What the world needs is imagination!" And... perhaps he's right!"

Drama Holiday Programme
22nd - 26th September 2025
Tall Poppies are running a holiday programme for school-aged children in the first week of the upcoming holidays.
The children will make a minimum of three films each day - devising, collaborating, producing, acting, sorting out the props and costumes 😊!
The programme is $35/day/child and a 10% discount is available for multiple family members attending.
Held in the Square Edge building, Church Street, Palmerston North from 8.30am - 5pm.

This is a great play 😍! Carmen is playing Rita and, whilst she swears a bit, at the start (Rita, that is, not Carmen 😅) - the play is suitable for all the family. It's a story about growth and influence and knowledge and class... and culture.
Playing at The Globe Theatre, hosted by Manawatu Theatre Society, starring Carmen as Rita and Phil White as Frank, directed by Paul Lyons with Mark Kilsby as assistant.
It'd be great to see our Tall Poppies families there 😊.
