Room 5 has been learning about Planet Earth and beyond. Miss Phillips taught us that the Sun is a star and the planets in our solar system orbit around the sun.

We stood on the field with the sun in the centre and the planets lined up in order from the closest to the furthest. We then got the planets to revolve around the sun. Thanks for an amazing lesson Miss Phillips!

Thank you for your help promoting recycling at Friday's disco! We are thrilled that over 90% of our waste could be recycled. Only a tiny fraction is heading to the landfill. Thanks Chris, Jacob and Caleb for all your hardwork sorting and managing the waste.🌳

Wishing all the amazing men and inspiring male role-models in our lives a very blessed and happy Father's Day.

Thanks to our fabulous PTFA for organising last night's disco. An evening of fun, family, friendship, dancing, glow sticks and way too many tasty treats!

Kia ora whānau
The children are clearly very excited about tonight’s disco! We’re looking forward to a fantastic evening and would like to thank our fabulous PTFA in advance for all the hard work that has gone into making tonight possible. We really appreciate the time, energy and enthusiasm they put into creating these special events for our tamariki.
A few important reminders:

Venue: Bucklands Beach Memorial Hall.

Parking: There is plenty of off-street parking at the hall, as well as parking bays along the beach. Please drive carefully and be particularly mindful of children around roads and moving traffic.

Doors open at 6.00pm: Please allow a little extra time on arrival as children will need to be checked off against the attendance list.

Older students attending without an adult: If your child is being left unaccompanied, please ensure an adult is at the hall by 7.20pm for pick-up.

Pre-schoolers must be closely supervised
Pre-school children must remain closely supervised by their parent/caregiver at all times. Please do not allow young children to play around independently, as the hall will be busy and there will be lots of children dancing and moving around.

Discos are for dancing! School staff and some family volunteers will be on patrol throughout the evening to help keep everyone safe. Running around, playing tiggy or other activities that could result in collisions or injuries are not safe in a busy disco environment. Children have been reminded of our safety expectations, so please ensure your child understands this before attending.

Everyone helps with pack-down
We ask that all attendees help with the pack-down and tidy-up at the end of the evening. Many hands make light work, and your help will ensure we can leave the hall tidy and get everyone home promptly.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone safe. We hope all our tamariki and families attending have a wonderful night!

Ngā mihi

Students from Rooms 10 and 3 enjoyed creating portraits with clay. After discussing their whakapapa and identity, students used clay to make self-portraits. The older students did a great job supporting and helping the younger students.
Thanks Mrs T and Miss Jay for organising this fabulous art activity.

We thank our 2 special Sarah's, Mrs Danny and Mrs Beach, for guiding our choral superstars.

Huge congratulations to all our tamariki who took to the stage 4 times over the past two evenings for the combined school choir festival with Elm Park, Sunnyhills, Farm Cove and Wakaaranga. How fabulous to hear Ka Waiata being lead by Joy and Arah.

Lots of learning in Science last week. Rooms 1 and 3 enjoyed lots of practical observation activities and experiments to explore climate change, aerodynamics and gravity.
