A huge thank you to Mr Lea and Mrs Cameron for joining us today as our wonderful judges for the St Anthony’s Year 7 & 8 Speech Competition!

And WOW… what a competition it was! 🤩 Our competitors took us on quite the journey, sharing passionate and thought-provoking speeches on everything from cheese 🧀 and farming 🚜 to human rights 🌍, silent bullying 💬 and even deextinction 🦖!

We are incredibly proud of every single student presented today. It takes courage, confidence and bravery to stand in front of an audience and share your ideas — and our students absolutely rose to the challenge!

Congratulations to our Runner-Up, Amelia, who delivered a fantastic speech on “Why Buses Should Have Seatbelts.”

And a HUGE congratulations to our 2026 Speech Competition Winner, Jai!

Jai wowed the judges with his fascinating and entertaining speech on Big Foot. Jai will now proudly represent St Anthony’s School at the Lions Speechmakers Competition on 16 September!

Well done, Jai! We’ll be cheering you on all the way!

🌟 Celebrating Success at St Anthony’s! 🌟

I love having visitors in my office… especially when they come with something to celebrate! 🎉

Here at St Anthony’s, we love celebrating our hard workers, and Mairangi is certainly one of them! He has been working incredibly hard and showing such wonderful fortitude in his Literacy learning. 📚💪

Mairangi, we are so proud of the effort, perseverance and determination you are showing. Keep up the fantastic work, you should be very proud of yourself! 👏🌟

Well done, Mairangi!

Today we celebrated 12 beautiful students as they received their First Eucharist.

What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, surrounded by whānau, friends and our St Brigids parish community, celebrating this very special next step in their Catholic faith journey.

A huge thank you to Fr Ralph for leading such a beautiful celebration, and to our amazing DRS, Natalie Elliott, and our wonderful Megan McHardy for lovingly preparing our students throughout their sacramental programme. Your time, care and dedication have helped make this such a special milestone for our tamariki.
And, of course, a heartfelt thank you to all our whānau and our parish community for your love, support and encouragement. It was wonderful to see everyone come together to celebrate our young people.

Congratulations to our 12 First Eucharist recipients!
May you continue to grow in faith, hope and love as you walk with Jesus.

What a blessing to share in such a beautiful celebration!
We are so proud of you!

What a bright, joyful and energetic Friday we’ve had at school! Our wonderful students brought an incredible burst of colour and happiness to our day as a beautiful sea of yellow spread throughout our school. 🌼☀️💛

The smiles, laughter and energy were contagious, and it was wonderful to see our school community come together for such a meaningful cause.
We are absolutely thrilled to share that, together, we raised over $240 for the Cancer Society! 🎉👏

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful students, staff, families and everyone who generously donated. Your kindness and generosity not only made today such an enjoyable and fun-filled day, but also helped support a cause that means so much to so many.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds.” Matthew 5:16 ✨

Today, our students certainly let their light shine! 💛 Through their enthusiasm, kindness and generosity, they reminded us that when we come together, even small acts can make a big difference.
Thank you for helping us turn our school yellow and our Friday into something truly special - full of joy, generosity and purpose.

Sr. Gertrude, Sr de Sales Maher, and Fr Tom classes attended an online event where they got to meet one of their favourite New Zealand authors - James Russell. They learnt all about his life, how he became an author, and also some top tips for becoming a better writer. Blake had his question chosen out of hundreds of school children around New Zealand attending! Some of our students are taking up James's story writing challenge competition - good luck team!

Tuakana–Teina, Faith & Friendship!

We had a wonderful time buddying up for Mass yesterday! Our Year 7 and 8 Sr Brigid’s class did a fantastic job supporting our younger learners in Year 1 Sr Alphonsus’ class and Year 2 Sr Margaret’s class. Thank you Fr Ralph for a lovely Friday mass to start our day.

It was beautiful to see our older students helping, encouraging and caring for our younger tamariki as we came together in faith and community. And of course, we couldn’t leave Woody and Buzz behind!

Tomorrow, Catholic churches throughout Aotearoa New Zealand will celebrate the Assumption of Mary. Our St Brigids parish warmly welcomes and invites all our school whānau to join us for Mass if you are able.

What a special way to come together as a school and faith community.

You may have already heard that Woody and Buzz have been causing a bit of mischief around the place this week!

But it was lovely to catch Buzz getting stuck into his Literacy learning yesterday, practising how to segment and blend his letters.

Nice work, Buzz! And a big well done to all our other learners for setting Buzz such a great example and showing him how we learn at school.

Now, I wonder… what was Woody up to?!

What a beautiful way to start the week!
We were so lucky on Monday to have our Word and Worship hosted by our wonderful Year 1 Sr Alphonsus class.
They shared a beautiful message about trusting in God, just as Mary did.

This Sunday, we celebrate the Assumption of Mary, so it was especially meaningful to reflect on Mary’s faith and trust in God.
A big thank you to our Year 1 Sr Alphonsus students and Mrs Elliott for such a special celebration. What a wonderful start to the week!
