Hikutaia School Hikutaia School is a rural school between Paeroa and Thames supported by a hard working community offering a future focused, balanced curriculum.

We promote positive comments. Negative talk will be removed, contact the school if you have concerns. Hikutaia School is located on State Highway 26 between Thames and Paeroa, at the base of the Coromandel Peninsula. The local area has a wealth of information and history and the school, which was established in 1878, has been an integral part of the Hikutaia community. Much of the local history revolves around the gold mining activities and the lives of the established farming families, many of whom have descendants attending the school today. The school draws its students from the local area which includes the Wharepoa, Komata and Hikutaia districts and also from the Paeroa township. The school has five classrooms, a community funded library, an administration area, a multi purpose hall and a large swimming pool set in extensively developed and attractive grounds. The school is fully computer networked and has high speed internet capability and wireless in all areas of the school. The large grounds allow plenty of space for students to play and enjoy themselves. They also make an ideal venue for a range of school and community events.

Calf Club Reminder

Join us this Monday, September 21st, starting at 10:00 AM.

​Come check out the animals and the amazing indoor exhibits on display!

​PTA Kitchen Open with sausages, pizza, hot chips and nachos.

​Plus, don't miss our delicious Cake Sale!

Auctions and raffles happening at 12pm.

Students who do not have animals are welcome to buy lunch and cakes on the day.

​Important Note: This is a CASH ONLY event. Make sure to bring cash with you!

We are excited to share our Hikutaia School 2026 Tea Towel!

This special tea towel features hand-drawn portraits from everyone at Hikutaia School - students and staff and is a lovely keepsake of our school whānau.
