Oxford A&P Association AGM Update

Our 2026 Annual General Meeting was held last evening, with a fantastic turnout of 34 members!

Harry Meijer was re-elected as President, Andrew Stokes and Warren Boocock as Vice-Presidents and Gavin Reed as Trustee

A very warm welcome and thank you to the 7 new people joining our committee this year! 🙌 We also want to give a special thank you to our inspiring Guest Speaker, Georgina Woods (RAS 2026 Rural Ambassador and co-opted Executive Member), who was an absolute honour to host.

Planning is now officially underway for our 122nd Annual Show on Saturday, 3 April 2027! 🎡🐎 We can't wait to bring the community together again and look forward to your continued support.

Dairy Goat Junior Judging A Success in Cross-Section Collaboration

This year, the Dairy Goat section introduced an exciting change by opening the Junior Judging class to participants from the Dairy and Beef Cattle sections. The initiative proved to be an outstanding success, fostering camaraderie and skill-sharing across different agricultural disciplines.

The Competition
The class invited young agriculturalists aged 24 and under to demonstrate their technical knowledge. Competitors were evaluated on their precision in placing the animals and their confidence in speaking to those placings—a true test of both livestock eye and public speaking.

Highlighting New Talent
The event saw a fantastic turnout, notably from the Rangiora High School Lowline Cattle team, who brought eight competitors to the ring. Remarkably, seven of those eight were competing in Dairy Goat judging for the very first time.

Section Convener Alice praised the effort of the newcomers:
"It was wonderful to see so many young people stepping outside their comfort zones. For so many first-timers to perform at this level is a testament to their dedication and livestock knowledge."
