Mānawatia a Matariki (Happy Māori New Year)
Our tamariki have been learning about Matariki, the Māori New Year through lots of fun and engaging experiences such as reading pūrakāu, stories, waiata, Whētu (star)/paper weaving and making an oven hangi.
A big Thank you to everyone coming along to our shared morning tea Matariki celebration. We had a great time together, having the lovely, shared kai and watching the Matariki concert performed by Tamariki. We also had the farewell for our Headteacher Cissy and Kaiako Vandhana – we wish them well for their new journey ahead.
We hope you have an awesome long weekend with your Whānau and friends, enjoying what Matariki brings to us all.

2025 MOTH PLANT POD COMPETITION
In the month of April to May 2025, Redoubt North kindergarten participated in the Moth plant pod competition from Otara Papatoetoe Local board alongside other Early learning services. We are pleased to announce that after collecting 2573 pods we won 3rd place in this competition.
We would like to say our big thank you to all our whanau who supported us in this competition. Working collaboratively with our whanau to collect these pods and destroy the vines was a great learning journey. It helped raise awareness of how we can protect our native plants from this invasive vine.
We are proud to share the photos of being the recipient of 3rd place Certificate with $150 Cash Prize from Sharlene McClay (Pest free South Auckland). We are looking forward to putting this towards our Enviro Sustainable practices in our Kindergarten
