🇫🇯 Thank you to the Fiji Catholic Community for inviting PKL to play a small but deeply heartfelt role in their inaugural Trans-Tasman Festival of Hope. We felt incredibly honoured to be welcomed into such sacred expressions of faith, custom, ceremony and community.
This vā is built on deep trust, enduring relationships, reciprocity and honour - we do not take that trust lightly.
There are many hands behind this body of work - writers, family members, translators, editors, narrators, artists, animators, sound engineers, and our incredible quality assurance support from Fiji. This is truly a village effort, and we look forward to acknowledging and celebrating every one of those contributions at the official release of the series in October.
For this first launch, it was important to us that we bring these resources directly back to the grassroots community who dreamed these stories into life.
Congratulations to community author and musician Joseph Vuicakau, wife Nina and his family, for sharing such an important message of identity, belonging and connection to place - particularly for children growing up in the diaspora.
Vinaka vakalevu to Father Ioane Epeli Qimaqima for his guidance, support and voice - from the altar to the recording studio! The children absolutely loved seeing and hearing their Parish priest become part of these animations ❤️
And fa’afetai tele lava to the passionate team at Satiu Studios, led by Gabriel Faiatau’uu-Satiu, for their work as script editors for the Mātala 2.0 Series. We love walking alongside you, learning from your expertise and sharing in this journey of storytelling.
We look forward to sharing these digital resources far and wide in celebration of Macawa ni Vosa vakaViti – Fijian Language Week, 4–10 October 2026, and this year’s powerful theme:
“Na noqu vosa me tekivu mai vale ka me’u na vosataka e na veisiga | My language starts at home, and I need to speak it every day.” Because language lives when it is spoken, shared, remembered and shared.
