Last week was a busy one, with 14 students representing our school at Interschool Cross Country, our Daffodil Day celebrations, and another week of recognising our awesome students through our weekly certificates.

The Elsthorpe School Hockey Prize Giving was held at the Patangata Pub last weekend, celebrating the achievements of our hockey players throughout the 2026 season. It was a great evening recognising the commitment, improvement and teamwork shown by our players, with special awards presented across each team.

On Friday, we had our annual Elsthorpe-Omakere Cross Country! There was plenty of mud, hills and a very cold day - but our kids made the most of it!

We were so proud to see such awesome sportsmanship, with students encouraging and supporting each other throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Omakere School for hosting us - we had a blast!

What a weekend of rugby! A huge congratulations to Husky, who was awarded Player of the Day for Havelock, and Jorja, who took out Player of the Day for Waipawa.

🌟 Week 3 Recap🌟

We’ve had another busy and exciting week at school!

On Tuesday, we headed to Waipawa to watch Omakere School’s dress rehearsal of their production ‘David Hattenscarf and the Wonder of Aotearoa’. What a fantastic performance!

Then came the snow! We had a very exciting mid-week surprise as the snow came down, giving everyone plenty to talk about!

Ruma Rearea had a special visit from Vera, who presented each student with a new book for taking part in the Libraries’ Winter Reading Programme. What a wonderful way to encourage a love of reading!

We finished the week with our school photos - we can’t wait to see the finished results!

It's been another busy and exciting week at Elsthorpe School. Highlights included our sessions with Harold the Giraffe and a fantastic day at the Onga 7s. We are so proud of the teamwork and positive attitudes our students have shown throughout the week.

What a fantastic day our students had at the Onga 7's yesterday!

Some of our students joined with other schools to form teams, and we are so proud of the bravery they showed by stepping out of their comfort zones and making new connections. A huge thank you to the schools we combined with - it was wonderful to see everyone working together.

Thank you to the coaches, staff, supporters, and whānau who helped make the day such a success. Our students had a blast and represented our school with enthusiasm and great sportsmanship. Well done!
