Kia ora whānau,
As part of building positive relationship within the community, most terms, Jodey and I head out and visit/connect with local ECE (Early Childhood Centres).

I was really excited to learn we have a NEW Early Childhood Centre in TA - and it is in our School Zone! It is so exciting to have a new ECE in our school zone so I wanted to see what all the buzz was about.

Today I visited Katherine Shaw, the new Centre manager at The Maples. Wow! What a place. The one thing that struck me was how well resourced the Centre is and the happy children. The Center has only been open for a few weeks.

Fun Fact! - Katherine is also a parent of Pāterangi School. Thank you Katherine for taking the time to show me around your beautiful Centre today. The Maples will now be on the list of centres Jodey and I will visit next term. I asked Katherine to tell us a little more about the Centre:

A Warm Welcome from The Maples Early Learning Centre

Kia ora Pāterangi whānau!

My name is Katherine, and I’m the Centre Manager at the newly opened The Maples Early Learning Centre, located in Frontier Estate, Te Awamutu, and I’m also a proud parent here at Paterangi School! We have a wonderful, loving and dedicated team of kaiako who are passionate about creating a warm, nurturing and fun environment where tamariki can learn, grow and feel a true sense of belonging.

If you’re looking for a new childcare home for your little one, we would love to welcome you in for a visit and show you around! We currently have spaces available for 2–5-year-olds, with limited availability for our under-2s.

Come and meet our team, explore our centre and see what makes The Maples a special place for tamariki and whānau. We’d love to meet you! 😊

To find out more or arrange a visit, email [email protected] or call us on 870 1555.

We had a lovely visit from Mayor, Mike Pettit and Deputy Mayor, Jo Davies-Colley today. I was so impressed that they took the time to visit with us as part of connecting with local schools. We enjoyed a lovely morning tea and they got to meet the amazing team at Pāterangi School. So refreshing having them take a genuine interest in our kura and what makes us so special. They asked what was important to us and if there were any issues we wanted raised or clarified. Thank you Mike and Jo.
