Our final full day of activities here at Block 2 Camp has come to an end.

Students spent the day flying through the air on the flying fox, taking part in their final camp activities, and making the most of every last moment together. As the day went on, there was also plenty of preparation happening behind the scenes for tonight’s talent show, with groups working together to finalise camp banners, practise performances, and perfect their group chants.

Tonight’s talent show was the perfect way to celebrate the week and the many different personalities, cultures, and talents within Block 2. From solo interpretive dances and silly little jigs, to kapa haka performances, solo piano pieces, modern trend-inspired acts, and even classical performances featuring bagpipes and violins. The variety, courage, and creativity on display was something really special.

More than anything, it was wonderful seeing students support one another so wholeheartedly, cheering each other on and celebrating the confidence it takes to stand up and perform in front of others. It was a fantastic way to finish our final evening together at camp.

At this stage, we are planning to arrive back at school tomorrow at approximately 2:30pm, although we will provide a further update tomorrow once we are on the road.

When collecting your children, we kindly ask that families either use the visitor parking bays or follow the usual school pick-up procedures. Our teachers will do our best to help get our happy (and very tired!) campers home and back into your hands as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Thank you again for all of your support throughout the week. Camp has been an unforgettable experience for our students

Another incredible day here at Block 2 Camp has come to an end, and although the campers are starting to feel the effects of three very busy days, the smiles, laughter, and energy are still going strong.

Today was another jam-packed day full of laughter, challenges, and memorable moments. We were also lucky enough to have a visit from our principal, Mrs East, who was able to see firsthand the incredible experiences and positive energy our students have been bringing to camp each day.

There was plenty of fun in the water today, with students making the most of the water slide and hydroslide. Some students chose to relax and unwind in the hot pools, while a few courageous souls bravely took on the cold pools as well!

One thing we have completely forgotten to take photos of this week is the amazing food our campers have been treated to each day. A huge shoutout and thank you to the incredible camp cooks who have kept all of us well fed from morning to night. The menu has been absolutely outstanding! Roast dinners with vegetables, burgers, nachos, wraps, creamy chicken and vegetables, along with a huge range of desserts at every meal. To top it all off, hot chocolates in the mornings and evenings have definitely been a camp favourite!

As the sun went down, the evening slowed into a much calmer pace, with movies, campfire singalongs, toasted marshmallows, and students enjoying time together simply being kids. These quieter moments have been just as special as the activities themselves, helping students build friendships, confidence, and memories they will carry long after camp finishes.

Our campers are now tucked away and snoozing soundly after another full day, resting up for our second-to-last day tomorrow. Thank you again to all of our families for your ongoing support and for trusting us with your amazing young people this week. Enjoy tonight’s photos!

What an end to the second day of Block 2 Camp.

There has been so much happening over the last two days that it is almost impossible to choose just a few memorable moments to share. Hopefully camp has created memories that will stay with many of our students for years to come.

Besides a few scraped knees, tired bodies, and the occasional runny nose, our students are doing well and spirits are still high. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, kindness, humour, and teamwork our students have shown throughout camp so far.

Apologies if we missed any calling moments this evening. At one stage, many of us were gathered around the campfire sharing stories, cooking s’mores, and enjoying one of those simple moments that reminds us why experiences like camp are so important. We will do our best to reconnect with students wanting to call home again tomorrow evening.

Thank you again to our families and community for your support in helping make experiences like this possible. Enjoy some of the photos from today!

Rise and shine whānau — a surprise post on the morning of Day 2! 🌤️

(Please don’t expect daily morning posts… we are still running on camp-time and instant coffee 😅)

After a big first day yesterday, the students settled in well last night. At around 8:00pm, students who wanted to phone home had the chance to give their families a call.

If you would like to receive a call from your wayward children tonight, please either leave a comment below or message your child’s classroom teacher directly, and we will do our best to call between 8:00–8:30pm.

Otherwise, our next update will be later on tonight after another action-packed day at camp.

Looking forward to another awesome day here at Camp Ngaruawahia!

End of the first day of Block 2 Camp at Ngaruawahia!

It has been a jam-packed day, with our students hitting the ground running from the moment we arrived. From activities and challenges to spending time with friends and stepping outside their comfort zones, the students have represented themselves and Wairau incredibly well.

After a big first day, students are now winding down for the evening , with many already snoozing away or enjoying some quiet time in their cabin dorms before another exciting day tomorrow.

We are very proud of the positive attitude, enthusiasm, and teamwork shown throughout the day, and we look forward to sharing more updates as camp continues.

Day 5 of camp in Ngāruawāhia. We have had an awesome camp. Lots of fun, heaps of things to do and delicious kai. We were all up early ready for breakfast. We progressed to duties with each dorm being designated a job. Worked a treat. We had hamburgers for lunch yummy! Loaded into the bus. Our bus drivers phone says 48 minutes to go before we arrive back. We have some very tired campers - children and adults. Heaps of cuddles and sleeping will work wonders over the weekend 🤗🥰💤. Thank you for allowing your child the opportunity to come to camp with us and an awesome thank you to our parent helpers. You are all rockstars! X

Day 4 at camp in Ngāruawāhia. What an adventure we had today. We started the day with a yummy breakfast-cereal, porridge and toast. Tummies full we prepared for our hikoi around Ngāruawāhia. As we set off, we were able to see the other kura on the other side of our camp. We walked into the centre of town, moved to another park, read valuable information and laid on the bank of the Waikato river. Absolutely peaceful. We made our way back to camp, had a bit of free time and then went on the hydro slide. Wonderful to see so many participating. We had butter chicken for tea. Delicious! Tonight is our movie night. Everyone is in their pyjamas, has their sleeping bag or blanket and pillow. A small bag of treats is going down well. Everyone is tired. Let’s see what time they go to sleep tonight. A wonderful camp week. It will be sad to leave tomorrow, but we are ready for home 🤗.

Day 3 at camp saw our students participate in their activities mentioned in day 2. After last minute scrambles for togs, towel and sports shoes, our students made it to their respective activity. Tabloid sports was next on our timetable and team bonding made the 7 activities a lot of fun. Dinner was very delicious and filling. Our evening programme showcased some up and coming comedians and actors. Look out for these talented stars in the near future! Eventually lights out by 10pm. Another great day at camp.
