A couple of new items added to the store this week 🤩
These cassette tape measures are my latest obsession! I’m so smitten and they feel like my 80s childhood 😻 They make me so happy.
Also added are these stone stitch markers. They come in sets of five and in two colourways: light or dark. They feel earthy, grounded and just the right size for your needles.
I’ll have them all at WoolFeast Christchurch Chch this weekend but they’re also on the website if you can’t make it there.
Happy knitting!

Had a nice time popping by Good Yarn last week. The vibes are so warm and friendly and they’re so supportive of NZ made yarn & patterns 🥰
Feeling lots of love from the Ridgeline Sweater projects too. I’m really enjoying seeing your WIPs pop up and to hear that you’re enjoying the pattern as much as I do 🤩
Also prepping for WoolFeast Christchurch this weekend … my last market of the year which is a little sad. But I’ve got lots of goodies for you all so if you’re in Chch, make sure you pop by and say hi 👋

If you want to knit an 8ply (DK) pattern, you can often achieve the same gauge as the pattern by using 4ply yarn held double with laceweight mohair.
https://www.purlfoundry.com/article/holding-yarn-double-isnt-actually-more-expensive
I sometimes hear knitters avoiding this because it costs more but here’s the thing … holding yarn double with mohair (or other fibres of choice) doesn’t necessarily mean double the price tag. You aren’t buying double the balls of yarn!
Here’s the breakdown:
A standard 50g ball of 8ply = approx 100m.
But 50g of 4ply = approx 200m.
Because 4ply is thinner, it goes twice as far!
So if your pattern asks for 1,00 of yarn, that’s 10 balls of 8ply (DK) OR 5 balls of 4ply (Fi*****ng).
Your base yarn cost is now cut in half! So you can take those savings and use it to buy your fluffy second yarn 💪 Depending on your mohair price, you could end up paying the same as you would have when using straight 8ply.
The result is a fabric that has more drape, softness and texture.
Have you been dodging patterns that use yarn held double because of the price tag? Let me know if this changes your mind 🤔

The new Ridgeline Sweater pattern features a line running down the entire length of the sleeve and there’s no sleeve pick up edge!
I hope you’ll try knitting one too because it’s such a fun project to knit and wear 🙌 I love mine so much

There’s a new yarn store in my home town 🤩 is focused on NZ made goods for knitters and crocheters and they’re a huge supporter of Purl Foundry. If you’re in Nelson, they’re definitely worth a visit 🧶

The sleeves on the pattern are my fave! There’s no sleeve seam or pick-up edge … just pure seamless flow 🤩 And that line down the entire sleeve is so visually pleasing!
It’s such a fun knit 🧶
