All my current spaces are full at the moment however a lovely educator who is just around the corner from me now has a rare space become available :) based in Onekawa on Wycliffe Street she is very experienced in catering for children particularly with diverse needs. This is the first available space with Sharyn in 3 years! If you or anyone you know is requiring childcare please get in touch with Porse or Sharyn :)

Iris has been a busy bee helping Keziiyah work on a reno in her room. With my guidance and verbal support Iris practiced learning a new skill of using the paint scraper. She found the task to be challenging however she persevered through and never gave up! By the end of this she had developed some understanding of how to correctly hold and use the tool to successfully scrape off the paint. Thank you for showing teddy what an amazing and determined person you are and for always giving new things a try even if they may be hard to do! Practice makes perfect Iris :)

One of the reasons I feel blessed as a working mama is being able to have the kids home during the school holidays. Ngā tamariki love having Keziiyah home too. Tobias took the opportunity of having his big school friend playing dramatic play with him. He called all the shots and commanded Keziiyah to be his camel 😂 she happily took part in his imaginative game while he enjoyed the ride repeating “giddy up!” It took a lot of balancing for Tobias to remain on top without falling!!

With the unpredictable weather we have been experiencing lately in the Bay, we enjoyed a movie day. We begun the morning by painting our boxes to transform into cars ngā tamariki will be able to chill inside and watch their movie like a drive through cinema :) As the paint dried ngā tamariki parked up on the couch with their popcorn treat ready to watch their chosen film Moana.

Inanahi I haere matou anō ki Learning Adventures Maraenui mo te takarohia.

Yesterday we went back to Learning Adventures Maraenui to spend the morning there alongside Te Ataahua and our new friends. Water play was a favourite for all to keep cool while Te rā scorched down on us 🌞 Ngā tamariki enjoyed the outdoor play on the swings, testing their balance and coordination on the challenge course and being safari explorers with their binoculars. Indoors lots of drawing, mobilo play and puzzles were enjoyed.

What a fantastic morning we all had with our friends 😁 Thank you Whanau for having us xx

We have been showing whakawhanaungatanga, Awhinatanga and aroha to our friend Te Ataahua as she transitioned to starting at Learning Adventures Maraenui. Having some of her friends and cousin Awhi her in this journey supported her to feel safe and secure in a new and unfamiliar environment. Here are some photos of Iris, Morehu, Tobias and Elisha also exploring this amazing new environment playing alongside our LAM friends who warmly welcomed them in with open arms x

On Monday we had a play date at Educator Shelleys house alongside our Porse friends for a fun play date. Tobias and Morehu thoroughly enjoyed themselves exploring their new play environment and all of the cool resources. It was hard to leave all of the fun behind! Thank you for having us 🥰

Absolutely love this! 100% bang on! Hang in there whānau when ya feel like moments with your little one is a little cray cray 🤣 There is a positive explanation 😁 Sometimes it’s a little challenging to see when clouded with all kinds of emotions! Lol sometimes I have days where I tell myself “Let it go...they’re just a child...they’re only 4!” 😂

What a beautiful graphic for reframing ❤️

Last Friday we celebrated Art Deco Week with our porse friends at the Marine Parade Park😍

We had a small group of friends today with Iris and AJ! We all got into the Art Deco spirit and enjoyed time playing on the playground while we waiting for our turn on the very cool Art Deco bus!!

Our amazing PT’s put together a scavenger hunt for us to try and find historic landmarks within Napier whilst on the bus tour. AJ and Iris loved this game and had fun spotting as many as possible.

It was quite funny once we drove past the wharf, the fresh fish were being unloaded from the fishing boats and the aroma was quite strong! Both Iris and AJ pinched their noses to block out the stench! 🤣 We enjoyed a lovely long cruisy bus tour with all of our friends. We then enjoyed some lunch before heading home for a much needed moe!

Last Thursday we were so lucky to spend the morning with our friends at Porse In-Home Childcare With Kylie. There is always so much fun to be had at their whare and it was the perfect opportunity to strengthen bonds with our fellow Porse Friends Benji, Beau and Thea :)

We stayed in the beautiful outdoor area and soaked up the sunshine and fresh air. AJ loved the awesome sandpit manoeuvring his diggers to scoop and dump sand. He enjoyed playing side by side by Benji and Thea 😊

Te Ataahua and Tobias love the mud kitchen, it has a tap with running water they are able to turn on and off all by themselves. There are two cute little dogs which are well behaved ngā tamariki absolutely adore them!!

Tobias loved playing with the dinosaurs as well, they have their own little corner where he enjoyed sitting and interacting with them in his own space and time.

We enjoyed some morning tea before it was time to head back home for moe we all had such a busy and eventful day! Thank you for having us Kylie and friends, we will be back again soon! 🥰❤️🤗

Last week was another busy week Whaea Piri is now catching up on 🙈

Here are some photos of a beautiful mahi tahi moment I noticed last Tuesday 18/02/20 where AJ, Te Ahi and Iris all worked together to utilise their building skills to construct an outstanding master piece.

Block play can help children to:
• learn about gravity, stability, balance, weight, and trial and error
• understand shape, size, space, depth, width and height
• develop hand–eye coordination and muscles
• learn to plan and ask questions
• gain confidence in their own abilities
• learn to cooperate and share with others.

All of these helpful skills were being honed as ngā tamariki engaged in play together. AJ lead this experience by initiating the build executing his ideas in his mind and putting them into action.
Te Ahi then joined in alongside him, making observations of what was happening before him and then figuring out where he could lend his skills and creativity to the build, working collaboratively as a dynamic duo master builders.

Iris, who had spend time watching her friends at play, also joined them by adding the finishing touches to their mahi.

What I enjoyed witnessing throughout this learning experience was that each tamaiti (child) valued their peers skills and ideas. Respect was shown so beautifully as this mahi unfolded one block piece at a time, and everyone was able to add their own individual flare to their specific part of the build. No ones ideas were better than another, everyone just did as they seen fit and it was appreciated by all. By the end of it they all stood back and said “Wow!” And admired their craftsmanship of what they achieved to build as a cooperative team. 🥰👌👏
