UPDATE : ⛵️⛵️⛵️
Been a while between FB posts. We have been investigating sailing opportunities in the Coromandel Peninsula. Interested youth sailors are well served, with 2 local sailing communities, either side of Matarangi.
(1) Mercury Bay Youth Sailing ([email protected]) and
(2) the newly started up Coromandel Youth Sailing - see Give it a Go day information below for this Sunday 3rd October. Both groups are affiliated under Yachting NZ sail programmes, and have lightweight skiffs designed for youth sailors.

Consequently, we will be wrapping up the idea of a Matarangi Learn to Sail Group for now. In the future, if there are interested kids/parents/sailors wanting to set up a Matarangi Learn to Sail group we have all the contacts.

Thanks to members of the community who supported the concept and donated many items for sailing use. We will be in touch with you shortly.

WANTED : Sailing yachts, life jackets, wet suits, sailing jackets, booties, helmets suitable for junior/youth Sailers (ages 8 to 15 years) in good condition.
Currently establishing a `Learn to Sail’ group to introduce Matarangi children / teens to sailing as a recreational sport.
We are wanting to obtain any sailing equipment in reasonable condition. Learner class yachts preferred (Optimist/ P-class/ Starling). Seeking donated equipment preferably. We will pick up from you to make it easier.
