⛷️ Day 2 – Ngāumu Ski Trip

Kia ora whānau,

Firstly, a BIG happy birthday to Matua Ben who celebrated his birthday on the mountain today! 🎂⛷️ Not a bad way to spend your birthday! We know that everyone would have made sure he felt extra special up there today. 🎉

Matua Ben sent through a wee report to say they had a great first day on the mountain, with the weather really improving as the day went on. He said he was really proud of everyone’s efforts today, the way they supported one another and how everyone got stuck in and gave it a go.

Tomorrow they are heading to Park Lane to up those ski levels even further! ⛷️🙌

They are all absolutely knackered tonight and have enjoyed some well-earned burgers for dinner. 🍔 No doubt we will have some very tired kids getting in a big sleep tonight before they do it all again tomorrow!

Another great day for the Ngāumu crew! 😊

⛷️ Day 1 – Ngāumu Ski Trip

Kia ora whānau,

Matua Ben and the team have arrived safely after leaving Masterton early this morning.

First activity on the agenda was the bike trail at Te Ara Mangawhero, and the children had an absolute blast! 🚴‍♀️🌿 They even managed to squeeze in some gumboot throwing in Taihape along the way! 👢

They are now settling in for the night after a busy first day and are looking forward to getting up the mountain tomorrow. ⛷️❄️

Hi everyone, well, that was a week! 😅

But despite everything, it was still such a great week, with all of our tamariki stepping up and being so adaptable with illness hitting our staff extremely hard this week.

Please spend the weekend resting and resetting, and hopefully we’ll have everyone back on board come Monday.

You’ve all done an amazing job getting through a challenging week, thank you!

Hi everyone,

It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of Week 2! Please find attached our first newsletter for the term.

We have already had some exciting programmes happening at school, with classes exploring the water catchment model to introduce our Term focus:

“We are connected to the land, waterways, plants, animals, and people around us. Understanding these connections helps us care for our environment and community.”

Students have also taken part in our Zero Waste programme and VR sessions focused on climate change and the Moana. The children have been highly engaged and are enjoying exploring our overarching Science focus through these hands on learning experiences.

This morning we also took the opportunity to celebrate together and acknowledge the children who have qualified for Interschools on Tuesday. Information for Interschools was sent home today, so please check your child's bag. A Hero post will also follow.

Hi everyone,

Please see attached our Week 4 newsletter.

A few key things to note this week:

A big shoutout to our support staff for the amazing work they do across our kura. We really appreciate everything they contribute to supporting our students and staff.
Our Bus Handbook and Student/Parent Agreements are now available. Please head to the school website or HERO to read through the information.
Students have also brought home the bus agreements in their bags. Could you please sign these and return them to their class teacher as soon as possible.

Pink Shirt Day – Friday 15th May

To support this important cause, Wainuioru School is encouraging students to wear pink or pink accessories to school on Friday (tomorrow). A gold coin donation is encouraged, with all funds raised going towards resources and initiatives that help schools prevent bullying and create positive, inclusive environments.

Pink Shirt Day is about celebrating diversity, promoting kindness, and helping schools, workplaces, and communities become safe, supportive, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

Join the Pink Shirt Day movement and help spread the message:
