Today's non-uniform day flood relief fundraiser for Tinui School organised by St Matthew's Collegiate School Year 10 students was a big hit with hot chocolate baked goods, a 'guess the lollies in the jar' and an Easter basket raffle. Thanks to all for their donations. Seeing staff in uniform has been a topic of conversation all morning!

The year has started with a hiss and a roar. In the midst we have established Junior and Senior Chapel Teams, this term focusing on the Anglican Marks of Mission: Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure. Chapel Teams are developing their understanding of how these Marks support service at St Matthew's Collegiate School, asking: “How can we respond to human need by loving service?” and “In what ways can we safeguard the integrity of creation within our school?” Watch this space! The Wairarapa Inter-collegiate Athletics event last week will see a team of twenty St Matthew's Collegiate School students head off to the regional comp in Wellington on Friday. Our runners, jumpers and throwers each placed first or second in their event to qualify – good luck girls!

Our St Matthew's Collegiate School modern athletics day has become a little more colourful than the annual sports day of 1934. Squeals of delight and shouts of encouragement were the order of the day at St Matthew's Collegiate School's traditional Shrove Tuesday pancake tossing races. Batten were victorious!

St Matthew's Collegiate School Equestrian hosted the first Interschools comp of the year at Solway Showgrounds yesterday coming away with top placing overall for St Matthew's Green with St Matthew's Yellow placed second. A big well done to all the riders, special mentions to Sofia Williams, 105cm champion and winner in the 'Local Rider' section, alongside Emily McMaster 2nd, and Poppy Tatham, 3rd.
