Well done to Year 7 student Emmi who won the junior section of the Waitatapia Wear-A-Bull arts. The theme for the junior section this year was “one out of the box”. Their outfit had to made (at least 80%) out of cardboard boxes. Emmi’s outfit was inspired by the book series, Wings of Fire. Her section was sponsored by Mitre 10 and she was lucky enough to win a sewing machine.
Huntley Old Girl Ashleigh Wier came 2nd in her entry in the Denim Category.

Two Schools, One Great Rivalry

There are some fixtures that always seem to bring a little extra edge, and our annual battles with Hereworth are certainly among them. Year after year, these contests produce plenty of competitive sport, great performances and, most importantly, a fantastic spirit between the two schools.

Across two days of competition, both schools were well represented across rugby, football, hockey and netball, with some outstanding performances on both sides.

Huntley secured good wins in 2nd and 1st Hockey. Hereworth produced a nail biting win in the Rugby 1st XV and wins in both Netball and Football.

While the results make for good reading, the real highlight was the way the boys and girls from both schools competed. Plenty of effort, plenty of skill, plenty of competitive moments — but always with respect, sportsmanship and a handshake at the end.

That is what school sport should be about.

A huge thank you to our friends at Hereworth for another outstanding couple of days of competition and camaraderie. We look forward to the next chapter in this great rivalry!

Last Saturday we hosted the Year 7/8 1st XV from Francis Douglas Memorial College in Taranaki. Francis Douglas took the win but our team never gave up and performed well in the second half. One more game left for our rugby players and that is the hotly contested Rangitikei Shield game that sees West Bank verse East Bank of the river take each other on in a mate v mate match!

Orienteering Success 🧭🏃‍♀️

A fantastic day for our Huntley students at the Manawatu Orienteering Championships!

Our girls performed exceptionally well in their grade, with Annabelle finishing 1st, Emmi 2nd, Lily 3rd, Jordie 4th and Eve 5th — an outstanding Huntley result! 👏

A special congratulations also to Liam, who took 1st place in his grade, and Lachie, who finished an excellent 5th in the Year 7/8 Boys.

Well done to all our competitors for representing Huntley so proudly and putting their navigation, fitness and determination to the test. A great effort from everyone in adverse weather conditions!

Saturday Sport Update!

Huntley IX won the Central Football Manawatu-Whanganui End of Season festival.

Netball A won their grade.
Huntley Red came second in their grade.

Huntley 1st XV lost a tough game against Francis Douglas 1st XV.

Huntley 1st XI Hockey won 10-0 on Friday night.

A great afternoon of winter sport at Huntley today as we welcomed Hereworth for our Colts fixture.

There were four hard-fought games across football, hockey, rugby and netball, with both schools competing strongly and showing plenty of sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Hereworth on wins in football, hockey and rugby, while Huntley came away with a well-earned victory in netball. 👏

Thanks to Hereworth for a fantastic afternoon of competition and to all our supporters who came along to cheer the players on.

Huntley School was proud to host Southwell School last Friday for our traditional annual winter sports fixture. The inter-school exchange saw exceptional talent and sportsmanship on display across rugby, football, netball, and hockey.

Throughout the competition, our students exemplified the core Huntley values of Grit, Determination, and Pride (GDP), delivering spirited performances against tough opposition.

Huntley secured wins in Football and Rugby whilst Southwell won the Hockey and Netball.

We extend our sincere thanks to the students, staff, and supporters from Southwell School for traveling to our grounds and contributing to a highly competitive and enjoyable day of sport.

Thank you so much to our families that hosted billets. We also acknowledge the wonderful turnout from the Huntley community on the sidelines. The strong, positive sideline support for all athletes was greatly appreciated!
