Greenmeadows Intermediate hosted the South Auckland Intermediate Schools chess competition today. GIS entered four teams, and there were all representatives from Randwick Park, Pukekohe Christian, Papatoetoe Intermediate, Holy Cross Catholic School, and Otahuhu Intermediate.
A highly enjoyable day of chess ensued, with all Greenmeadows teams playing well and picking up wins along the way. Special congratulations to the GIS 'A' team for finishing up as winners of the day - well done to members Toby Gross, Gurnoor Singh, Lesharo Hocquard, and Ollie Styles, who have qualified for the National Championships later in the year. Toby also tied for best player on Board 1.

Tries, tackles, scrums and line outs! It was all there at the Manurewa cluster rugby field day. We sent two teams of enthusiastic young men who played their hearts out. We won a few, and lost a few, with both teams ending up being middle of their respective tables. All of the boys represented the GIS values the whole day and were a credit to our school. A great day out in the autumnal sunshine!

We have the Rob Cope parent evening this Wednesday night starting at 6.30p.m. in our school hall. Whaea Luanda attended one of his nights and recommended we get him in he was that good! We are flying him up from Wellington especially for this parent session on how to keep your child safe online!
To be honest, we thought we would fill the hall with parents (this being such a relevant topic for this age level). At the moment we have about 35 people.
We really encourage anyone who is keen hear what Rob has to say to come along - current GIS parents, future GIS parents and ex GIS parents!
Register by following this link.
