Its National Volunteer Week and we want to do a big shout out to the Amazing Alumnae Volunteers that contribute to our programmes at Innovative Young Minds.

IYM Alumnae play such an important role mentoring and supporting students through the programmes, as they have lived it themselves. We get such positive feedback from participants on how these Alumnae mentors have helped them in their IYM Journey.

Back to School - Sharing Your Tech experiences
Are you currently working in Tech and keen to share your experience with Year 9 Digital Technologies students at Wellington High School? This involves a 1 hour classroom visit on either the 11th, 13th and 14th of August 2026 (not all 3, just one) where you share your experience. Let’s show them the amazing women in tech who have interesting and fun careers.

We have finally packaged up our certificates and prizes for the Winners of the Rio Tinto Innovation Challenge from IYM Online 2026.
Each member of the winning team got to pick a piece of Silver Science Jewellery (https://silverscience.co.nz/), which is your favourite?
We are grateful to the Silver Science Jewellery team who gift some Jewellery each year, we use them as prizes at our events.

What a fantastic first IYM Satellite Online we had last Friday.
249 participants got to see the variety of roles and machinery used via a video tour of Affinity Medical Imaging offices in Te Whanganui-a-tara, Wellington.
They also got a Q&A panel with 7 of the team at Affinity Medical Imaging, showcasing a variety of imaging modalities and in various stages in their careers.
A big thank you to the team at Affinity Medical Imaging and to Evie Boyd, an IYM Alumnae who MC’d our Satellite.

IYM's Affinity Satellite Programme connects students with the people and professions shaping the future of medical imaging and radiation sciences.
Through a series of engaging presentations, participants have the opportunity to hear directly from professionals working across a wide range of imaging specialties, gaining valuable insight into career pathways, emerging technologies, and the real-world impact of their work on patient care.
Our students will today hear from:

Together, these speakers will showcase the diversity of opportunities available within medical imaging, while sharing their personal journeys, professional experiences, and insights into the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
The Affinity Satellite Programme is about more than career exploration. It is about helping young people see themselves in these professions, understand the pathways available to them, and connect classroom learning with meaningful future opportunities.
A huge thank you to all of our presenters for generously sharing their time, expertise, and passion. Your contribution is helping inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and future leaders in medical imaging.
