Kia ora e te whanau
Just a quick note to say the Year 7 and 8 tamariki have decided on a bake sale to raise money for our activities in Christchurch on the Thursday of camp week. They want to go to Ninja Valley and the Hydro Slide. To do this, we need to raise $750.00.
We will be selling baking on Monday from 2:30 at the front of school, by the office.
We thank you for your support. 🧁🥧🍰🍩🍪

Today we had the privilege of listening to the beautiful choir dress rehearsal before their performance at the Big Sing at Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School on Thursday. We are incredibly proud of all the hard mahi they have put in to get to this point.

A special thank you to the very talented Whaea Jo for leading our choir and sharing her talent with our tamariki. They sound wonderful!

🌼 DAFFODIL DAY 2026 🌼
Wow! Great turn out for Daffodil Day today!
Well done everyone that managed to find something yellow to wear, but most importantly, thank you to those of you that donated to the Cancer Society.
We know we raised over $150, with a bit more to come on Monday.

Poipoia (Year 2–3) have been busy this term so far. 🌱💚

Our inquiry, ‘Making a Difference’ is all about understanding how we can look after our people and environment, and recognising the impact that each of us can have.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been lucky to have whānau speakers like Terooputaiaoo Ngatiwhakatere and Cilla Wade share the mahi they do in our community and the difference it makes. We’ve also loved getting hands-on with planting, learning more about what it means to be a kaitiaki for our environment and why this is so important.

Today, we took our learning out into the community! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ We went for a hīkoi around Shannon to explore some of the businesses, organisations, parks and places that are important to us, thinking carefully about how each one contributes to our community.

We loved visiting Te Puàwaitanga o Hanana Shannon Health & Wellbeing Centre and talking about the important mahi that happens there to support the health and wellbeing of our people. We spotted sponsorship signs at local businesses such as Four Square Shannon and Streetwise Coffee Shannon which sparked some great conversations about the way people and businesses support one another and help our community thrive.

We even stopped to check out the electric vehicle chargers and talked about electric cars, sustainability and the impact the choices we make can have on our environment! 🚗⚡🌏

It was a great opportunity to see that making a difference can happen in lots of different ways through caring for our environment, supporting others, providing important services, or simply contributing to the community we are part of.

Our awesome tamariki even stopped to pick up some rubbish they saw on the way! We are incredibly inspired to make a difference in any way we can 🍄
