Harinui Early Childhood Learning Centre in Kerikeri is looking for a fantastic registered and certificated ECE teacher to join our infant and toddler teaching team three days per week.
Our well-established centre is family owned and operated, catering for tamariki aged 3 months to 3 years. Tamariki and whānau are at the heart of our philosophy, and we are seeking a teacher who shares this kaupapa.

Our centres are set on two acres of land, including our own wilderness area that supports rich outdoor exploration. We have a long history of positive ERO reports, and a recent review recognised us as leaders in early childhood education.

We offer:
• Extended Pay Parity
• A nature-based learning environment
• Enviroschools programme
• Professional development and growth opportunities
• Free childcare for staff children
• Great teacher-to-child ratios
• Paid First Aid
• Mentoring for provisionally certificated teachers
• Two-week Christmas shutdown
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
*Applicants must hold NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, as we are not an Accredited Employer.

Try, try and try again 🔨
Hammering a nail is an activity that helps children develop fine motor skills by strengthening hand and finger muscles, requiring hand-eye coordination, and promoting problem-solving as they learn to adjust their grip and approach. These skills are life-long, and can promote strong pencil grip in later years. It can take a few attempts to get your nail in... which teaches us to try again!

A special thank you to Constable Rob from the police, for bringing his very impressive police car to our Wheels Day! It was a wonderful opportunity to say hello, remember our safety skills, and even listen to the siren and see the flashing lights. Your support to our community is deeply appreciated!

🚜Thank you to our neighbours at Ace Rental who recently hosted a group of our tamariki. This was a wonderful experience! The team at ACE went above and beyond to show our tamariki around. Not only did they get to look at all the different machines, diggers and trucks but they also got the opportunity to sit with a digger driver and drive the digger! They were supported to work the arm and bucket as well as drive the digger up and down their lot! 🚜

We are so grateful to the Ace Rental team for being so accommodating, welcoming and creating such a special experience! Fortunately they are keen to have us back, we are aiming to do a few more trips during their quiet season with different groups of children. 💕

On Friday, Harinui celebrated passing our Enviroschools reflection! Many thanks to the beautiful Judy, our Enviroschools co-ordinator, who presented us with a sign, certificate and tree for our garden.
We are delighted and proud to be an early childhood service representing the under 3 age group in this kaupapa - our amazing kaiako have worked hard to make this important learning authentic and age appropriate. We hope this mahi helps protect our environment and supports positive change for the future!

Kaitiakitanga - looking after our forests 🌿

Recently we were invited by DOC (the Department Of Conservation) to go to Puketī to plant some trees. This was all part of a wider kaupapa and we were very humbled and privileged to get this invitation - it was such a neat experience!

We have been thinking a lot about how we can give back to Puketī, alongside our fundraising for the Puketi Forest Trust. We were able to strengthen our relationships in our community, our tamariki’s connection to this land and help be that kaitiaki for our forests. We think the pictures say it all. A special thank you to Catherine, Ollie and all who made it happen.
