Morena whanau, today marks a significant and sad time for us all as we close the doors to our amazing centre.

We are going to be celebrating all the amazing memories we have made here by taking our tamariki for a haerenga to our local park for a play, kai and to share stories.

Planning by the maramataka.. we as kaiako recently attended professional development with Heeni Hoterene and we have made it our mission to plan with intention pertaining to the marama phases and along the way also teach our tamariki. I’m loving this process as we are learning alongside the tamariki.

Knowing that kōanga was creeping up on us and our māra kai has been empty this was the perfect opportunity to look to our maramataka and plan ahead. We sat down together and discussed ideas. Why we are doing this? We also looked at the planting calendar to see what was good to grow this time of year in our rohe. We collated a list and our tamariki drew pictures to match their wish list of delicious fruits and vegetables. We then looked to our maramataka to see what day was best for planting and decide on Ohoata and Ouēnuku - ngā marama o Rongo, he pai ( Gardening and Growth).

Thank you to CBEC for guiding our kaiako and tamariki to finding the best plants for us and our centre so in a few months time we can enjoy the fruits of our labour and share with our tamariki and whanau.

Manawatia a Matariki ✨

Yesterday was a success!! So proud of our tamariki for taking the stage in front of their whanau and performing their little hearts outs. Thank you to all our whanau who helped in some way be your time or resources, nga mihi! To our amazing kaiako and team, without you all this wouldnt be possible for our tamariki, aroha nui and to all our whanau who showed up for our tamariki, your presence is definitely the highlight for them when they spot you in the crowd.

We hope you all had an amazing time and enjoyed the delicious hangi and steamed pudding 👌 REEEKKKAAAA!!

Enjoy your long weekend, get some rest, reset, plan and we will see you all again on Monday!!

Massive effort from our tamariki and kaiako yesterday. 120 hangi prepped and packed ready for today!! Today they get to show off all their amazing waiata and share all the hard work of peeling, cutting, rubbing and eating they put in to creating this hangi for us.

A huge nga mihi to our whanau and kaiako who have supported us, cooked our hangi, helped decorate, koha kai and time for our tamariki to have this amazing day with their whanau. We are forever grateful.
