Enrol your tamariki in for 2024 – Limited spaces available.

Come on in to Lucknow Kindergarten and you will see, hear and feel an environment that is natural and welcoming to all. You will see creativity in all aspects of the learning environment – visual arts, dance, music, clay and modelling. You will see tamariki and kaiako involved together in researching ideas, and asking questions. It is within these experiences that kaiako promote the literacy/language learning and the mathematical/scientific learning.

We are open from 8:00am – 3:30pm and offer up to 30 hours free!

Kia ora e te whānau
As you will be aware we are taking Strike action on Thursday 16th March and Lucknow Kindergarten will be CLOSED. This is not something we want to do, but after 8 months of negotiating our collective agreement we feel it is necessary to ensure improved working conditions and in turn better learning conditions for our tamariki. Every child deserves to have their teachers time, attention and skills, and we want to whakamana this for our tamariki and our Kaiako. Tomorrow, teachers and whānau from Kindergarten through to Secondary schools will gather across Aotearoa, united in our pleas to the government to see us and hear us. We want to thank our community here at Lucknow Kindergarten for their messages of support and understanding.

Update: All of our kindergartens will remain closed for the rest of the week. We will send out another update on Friday the 17th at 3pm, once we are able to assess each kindergarten. Our thoughts are with everyone right now, take care and stay safe whānau.

Long before Lucknow Kindergarten was built, the site was a community garden that fed the local people. One way that we show how proud we are to be kaitiaki of the garden in present days, is with our annual Tane Mahuta Week. This is our special celebration in the garden where whānau join the planting with their tamariki throughout the week, and then they take the role of kaitiaki over the next months and years.

Mother Hen has hatched three baby chicks at Lucknow Kindergarten. We are open through the school holidays, so there will be many opportunities to interact with the hens and chicks. NZ's early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki, includes this - Children develop their sense of responsibility for the living world and knowledge about how to care for it.

We re-open our kindergarten for all children on Thursday 9th September :)

With Hawke's Bay moving to Alert Level 2 we are happy to announce that all our kindergartens will be open from Thursday 9th September. We look forward to welcoming our children and whanau back.
