“Hey! I’m Leah, 24, from Hamilton. My main sport is hockey and I’m currently training with the NZ Blacksticks squad working towards the upcoming Olympics in 2028. I competed at the U21 Junior World Cup in Chile in 2024, along with touring China with the NZA side and playing international series matches against USA and Japan earlier this year.
Outside of hockey, I also do CrossFit, play Golf and have a background in Squash. Sports has always been a huge part of my life and I love challenging myself in different environments.
A big focus for me lately has been mindset, recovery, and learning how to stay composed under pressure. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to work with the team at Elemental. I really align with the focus around breath work, recovery, and mental preparation, and I think those things are massive when it comes to performing at your best.”

Great session today running a Functional Breathing Workshop with H-town.
H-town brings together youth organisations across Hamilton to connect, support each other, and create better outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi in the Waikato.
We focused on simple, practical breathing techniques to regulate the nervous system, boost energy, and help people take better care of themselves so they can show up stronger in their communities.
It’s always a special session providing support to those doing the real work on the frontlines.

Another great Functional Breathing workshop over the weekend.
There was a cool moment after one of the breathing exercises where someone shared how powerful it felt to realise they could directly influence how they were feeling through their breath and positively impact their nervous system.
After the breathing section, they put their new skills to the test in the ice bath and sauna and made it look easy.

This is a practical session focused on helping you understand how your breathing directly impacts your state and how to use it to stay calm, clear, and in control under pressure.

We then take it a step further with a guided sauna and ice bath session, giving you the opportunity to put the breathing into practice in real time.

Awesome Functional Breathing Intensive workshop with today.
Great to see a small business investing in their team’s wellbeing and leading from the front.
The team learned:
• What functional breathing actually is (light, slow, deep, nasal)
• How their breath directly impacts the nervous system
• How to shift from stress into a calm, focused state
• Practical breathing protocols they can use daily
We then went through 3 rounds of sauna and ice bath to put it all into practice in real time learning how to stay calm under stress, control the breath, and recover quickly.
This is where the work becomes real.
