Many hands make light work - it's always amazing how much mahi our tamariki do on Enviro Day!
Each class took ownership of a particular area - the ngahere/native bush area, the vegetable garden. the orchard, the flower gardens to name but a few. Our parent helpers took on some of the heavier tasks - including taking away the green waste for recycling. Thank you again to everyone who came along to help us. Our community is amazing!

Our Enviro Day on Wednesday was a huge success with many projects completed across the school - the hard mahi by the children is always amazing to see.
A very special thank you for the incredibly generous donations of plants by Robert Scott of Bloomin Plants & Stitches, Antoinette from The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum, and one of our Tauwhare parents, Andrea, for our new te Manawa garden - a project managed by Room 2. The tamariki are excited to continue to nuture this garden and watch it grow and mature. Next time you are at school, pop by and have a look at the garden in front of Te Manawa.

This morning we held our lockdown drill to ensure we all know what to do in the event of an emergency. All the children did an amazing job - assembling in their designated low-visibility areas. Great job everyone for keeping so calm and quiet, and acting so quickly. We practise these drills to ensure everyone knows what to do in the event of a real lockdown - either in the case of an unwelcome visitor on school grounds, a roaming dog, or even a swarm of bees.
A reminder that in the event of a real emergency or lockdown at the school - do not phone or come to the school. Phone lines and the car park area must be kept clear for emergency services. We have a system for contacting all parents if necessary and would post updates as required. Thank you everyone.

It was a special morning at the Eureka Hall on Saturday as we honoured and remembered those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. We reflected on the courage and service, and the passing of these traditions on to the next generation. Thank you to all of those who organised and led such a beautiful service.

Tuesday Thank You Shout Out
Thank you to Michelle and Kirk Forsyth and their business ABS LTD for their generous donation of sand to top up the sand pit. The children loved watching the truck tip the sand in from the windows in the classrooms. We are incredibly grateful for your support towards this very popular area of the playground.
