This morning we had another wonderfully successful concert in Matangi. The special difference was that it was the first concert for my adult night class students and for young Timothy. Everyone sang their hearts out!
Taking enrolments now for Term 2!
This year is going by in a flash and with Easter over we are already staring down the end of Term 1. Next term we hope to have another concert as well as the opportunity for interested pupils to be involved in the Hamilton Singing Competitions.
Message me now to register your interest for Term 2 lessons. :)

5 Simple Singing Tips
#5 The SECRET Tip: This tip is secret because NO ONE will know if you are doing it! Tighten the cheeks of your bottom as you are singing!
This will particularly help you with low notes, high notes, long notes, quiet notes, loud notes... a lot of notes! Just give it a go for yourself and see the results!

5 Simple Singing Tips
#4 Pronunciation: Pronounce your words clearly. Finish words fully that have t's, d's, k's etc that you may usually drop off when speaking. And if your accent makes you pronouce words like 'little' as 'liddle' or 'water' as 'wader' you should be careful to use the correct pronunciation using the 't' when singing as it makes your song sound more polished and is easier to understand.
Check back tomorrow for the last tip of the week!
5 Simple Singing Tips
#3 Deep breaths: Ensure your aren't taking shallow breaths by putting your hands on either side of your ribs cage so you can feel them move as you breathe. Then, look in a mirror and breath feeling for the ribs to move out sideways and watching that your shoulders are barely moving upwards. Practice taking slow, long, quiet breaths!
5 Simple Singing Tips
#2 Posture: Position your feet about shoulder width apart, keep your knees slightly bent rather than locking them straight, put your shoulders back and drop them down into a relaxed position and lastly keep your head facing straight forward with your chin not squashed into your neck or up to the sky!
This week: 5 Simple Singing Tips
#1 Hum - Whenever you are listening to music in the car, at home or even at the shops, hum along. Use this time to teach yourself where to position your singing correctly. Make sure you have your lips gently closed, teeth apart (about a pinky finger space) and your tongue forward touching the back of your bottom front teeth.
