🔨 Secondary students building small-scale homes
🎓 NZQA + BCITO Geraldine High School has started a new Building Academy this year.

A number of students will be working to build a 3 bedroom home on the school grounds which, once complete, will be delivered to the client site. The Building Academy aims to provide our students with hands-on, industry-standard building and construction training within the school grounds. Our program focuses on building small-scale homes (2-4 bedrooms) under the mentorship of a qualified teacher a

nd builder, equipping students with the technical skills, confidence, and industry knowledge needed to excel in New Zealand's growing construction sector. This initiative aligns with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) framework to ensure that students achieve recognised qualifications through BCITO.

Our Building Academy students have made a lot of progress since our last post so let’s try to catch up on some photos of what’s been happening since then! The trusses went up at the end of June - and look at how perfectly they fit under our custom on-site atrium ceiling👌🏼

Year 7 Hard Tech were excited to visit the Building Academy - Te Ara Kei Te Waihanga this morning. Mr Proffit & Mr Ludwig spoke to them about what's happening as the building academy students start putting the wall framing up today!
