❄️ Winter is really making itself known, with plenty of frost, snow and ice about. If you are driving, here are a few tips for driving in frosty weather.

And before you head off, do a quick check in:
- What's the weather up to? It's important to know what's been happening and what's forecast - both for the area you'll be driving in, and for your destination.
- Are you confident driving in these conditions? If not, delay travel.
- Is your car up to it? Make sure your tyres are in good condition, you've got enough fuel or battery range, and your car is running well.

Pull over somewhere safe if you do need to stop. Please be patient and allow extra time for travel - we want everyone to arrive at their destinations safely 💛

Remember to drive to the conditions. Adjust your speed and following distance, and don’t let your windows fog up - turn on the demister or open a window.

A) Follow close to the vehicle in front
B) Dip your vehicle headlights
C) Use the cat's eyes as a guide
D) Turn on your vehicle's interior lights

This picture might look complicated, but it will be a familiar situation for a few of you! Do you know what you should do?

Imagine you’re in the blue car, waiting to turn left from a side street on to a busy multi-lane road. You want to turn into the far lane which leads to the motorway further up the road. The nearest lane on the main road is empty, but cars are queued up in the lane you want to go in to.
Should you turn into the closest lane and change lanes later, sit and wait for a gap in the far lane, or pull out so you're sitting across the lane and hope the driver of the black car will let you in to the far lane?

Knowing which lane to use and how to merge safely can help keep traffic flowing smoothly. Think you know what you should do here? Comment below with your answer. Not sure or think you might need a refresher? 👉 aa.co.nz/road-rules-empty-lane-dilemma/
