The Hornby Community Centre is running a fun selection of school holiday activities for children aged 5–12 years.

We have some hands-on and creative activities coming up during the September/October school holidays, including:


Game On! Design, Make & Play – Friday 2 October, 10:30am–12:30pm
Children can become game designers, creating their own game from scratch and then challenging their friends to play!


Hook & Ring Game with Hornby MenzShed – Monday 5 October, 1:30pm–3:30pm
A hands-on session where children can make their own Hook & Ring Toss game with the help of the Hornby MenzShed team.


Sock Puppet Studio – Tuesday 6 October, 10:30am–12:30pm
Turn an ordinary sock into a fun puppet using colours, googly eyes and decorations, then bring their new puppet friend to life!


Get Wise with Jeff from ASB – Wednesday 30 September, 10:30am–12pm
A fun and interactive session teaching children some handy money-smart tips and tricks. This session is FREE!


All sessions are $8 per child and snacks are provided. A parent/caregiver must remain during the session.

Dental Care during the School Holidays



The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays. The clinics will offer treatment and relief of pain sessions by appointment only. To make an appointment please call/email our Contact Centre which operates between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday throughout the holidays (between 28 September to Friday 05 October). If your child requires urgent dental care during the time we are closed, please contact your family dentist.

The clinics will offer appointments between 8.15am and 4.45pm for school-age and preschool children. If your child has dental pain because of an accident, please contact your dentist in the first instance.
