🏍 Rider Down – Motorcycle First Aid Workshop 🏍
Sunday 21 June, 9am - 3pm

Join this free workshop to gain essential motorcycle crash prevention, scene management and CPR + first aid skills from Mark Going – a seasoned trainer, lifelong rider and Critical Care Paramedic.

Every participant will receive a free motorcycle first aid kit along with bonus motorcycling goodies. Enjoy morning tea on arrival and a light lunch as part of this practical and engaging event.

It's not just good driving/riding, it's the law.

You must keep left unless you’re passing other people or you’re about to turn right. Here's the law: The law requires you to keep left no matter what type of road you're on: • On a single-lane road keep as far left of the centreline as you can. • On a multi-lane road (such as in this video) keep in the left-most lane unless you're passing other people. You don't have to keep left if: • you're about to turn right • you're passing other people • the lane to your left is full (for example in traffic), blocked (for example there are roadworks happening, or there's an obstruction), or unavailable to you (it's not a lane you're allowed to travel in, such as a cycle lane). At all times: • Tailgating is illegal. Regardless of if people in front of you are travelling slowly or not keeping left, it's not acceptable to tailgate. • Exceeding the speed limit is illegal. You can't exceed the speed limit in order to pass someone.

Spring has sprung, but any season can pop up in a day out riding. Here’s some RF tips for adaptable adventuring. 👉Wear safe, breathable gear, suitable to the changing conditions. 👉Layer clothing for options to cool down or warm up. 👉Choose a helmet with dropdown visor to deal with bright sun or low-light conditions. 👉Ride to the conditions and be prepared for them to change quickly.

Word is that ACC is making their Ride Forever Courses free as long as they are taken before the end of November.

They are normally cheap, but until the end of November, there's no cost at all, because ACC is paying even the registration fee.

Just contact one of Canterbury's training providers; they'll sort the registration out for you.

You must always signal left before you exit a roundabout, even if you’re just going straight through. It's the law. Signalling left as you're exiting shows people your intentions and helps keep everyone moving efficiently. The person in this example does it perfectly – well done to them! For example, if you're travelling straight through a roundabout, signalling left before you exit shows people waiting in front of you that you're exiting and that it's safe for them to enter the roundabout. There’s no minimum time you have to signal for because some roundabouts are small, but always do your best to signal so everyone else knows the direction you’re travelling.
