Meet the team!

🍃 Jardene 🍃

She has taught in ECE for 17 years and is the Team Leader of our under 2s spaces, Aruhe and Tarawera.

You’ll often find her juggling hugs, care moments, laughs and her laptop!

She wants to lead with heart, and inspire others around her. Sixteen of her seventeen years teaching have been in under 2 environments and this is where her passion lies - with our youngest pēpē, nurturing and supporting them as they begin their learning journey here at Wildheart Belfast.

Favourite story to share with the tamariki is Me Haere! The Aruhe and Tarawera children love this, especially that whero motorbike! 🏍️

When Jardene isn't at work she is busy juggling a husband, her own 3 children, her 2 dogs and 3 cats!

Jardene hopes the tamariki remember her as kind, respectful, fun, and a comforting safe space to learn and grow alongside. She loves that she gets to continue watching the tamariki grow as they transition to our over 2s space, Tutoke.

Meet the team!

This is 🪻Tehillah🪻 also known as Bubbles.

She is a Kaiako in our under two room, Aruhe. Tehillah brings the fun and laughter to not only the tamariki, but her fellow kaiako too!

I am originally from South Africa; I have lived in New Zealand for 20 years. I have two school age boys who keep me on my toes.

I am often found singing and dancing with the tamariki, making my own lyrics as I go along.

My favourite thing to do is create new resources for the children, and I love to watch as they explore.
Something I hope the children will remember is that I was a safe space and made growing meaningful and fun!

You’ll often find her being chased by the tamariki, round the playground with insects 🦗 or playing police vs bad guys 👮🏼‍♀️

These cold days don’t stop the Tarawera tamariki exploring their environment. From messy play, to painting with friends we love to get out as much as we can!

Connecting with nature together is a huge part of our philosophy, it’s where imagination shines and physical development thrives 🍃🩷

*Gloop Exploration*

This morning in the Tutoke room we have been exploring gloop. Gloop provides a rich tactile experience through touching, squeezing, pouring and mixing, encouraging use of fine motor.
It encourages curiosity and experimentation as well as lot of descriptive korero -
“It’s sticky”, “So cold and slimy”, “Wow I like the orange” - Some Tutoke peers conversations

🎂 WildHeart Belfast celebrated their 1st Birthday today! 🎂

We celebrated by having kai for our whānau to take this morning - kindly baked by our beautiful Chef Erin.
The tamariki celebrated by making decorations for the room, having a disco dress up and have delicious cupcakes 🎉
We cannot believe our beautiful centre has been open for a whole year now. Thank you to all our whānau and tamariki who have supported us through our first year 🥳

On Friday 15th we supported Pink Shirt Day/To Spread Kindness.
The tamariki came dressed in their pink shirts/outfits as well as having pink provocations and baking throughout their day 💕🌸

This week we are bringing awareness to the beautiful language, New Zealand Sign Language.

Learning NZSL helps build connection, inclusion, and communication for everyone. It is one of Aotearoa official languages, and even learning a few signs makes a big difference.

Anzac Biscuit Baking

Last week the tamariki in Tutoke learnt about Anzac Day, through stories, provocations, arts and baking!
Through baking the tamariki learnt about measuring ingredients, following a recipe and collaboratively working together as a team!

This experience also created opportunities for rich conversations about remembrance, sharing, and the significance of Anzac Day in Aotearoa. The tamariki showed great curiosity and pride in their baking, enjoying both the process and the delicious results together.
