LHS ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT – MILLIE THOMPSON!

From Lincoln High School student and captain to New Zealand representative and now coach, Millie Thompson is a fantastic example of what it means to give back to your school and your sport!

A 2019 LHS graduate, Millie was a familiar face on the hockey turf and touch field during her time at Lincoln, playing and captaining across both sports and showing the leadership, determination and competitive spirit that made her such a standout athlete.
Her sporting journey has continued well beyond LHS, with Millie proudly representing New Zealand in the U20 Women’s Touch Trans-Tasman team πŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏπŸ”₯, an incredible achievement and testament to the talent, dedication and hard work she has put into her sport.

But what makes Millie’s story even more special is that she continues to give her time back to Lincoln High School, volunteering countless hours to coach our very own Senior Mixed Touch team β€” the Turtles! 🐒

The Turtles are incredibly lucky to have a coach with Millie’s experience, passion and competitive spirit in their corner. And with 147 games as a Turtle herself, she knows exactly what it means to pull on that jersey!

The Turtles were due to hit the training paddock last week, but Canterbury weather had other ideas! Their Nationals preparation will now officially kick off next week, with the team ready to put in the mahi, build their skills and come together as a team ahead of the National Championships in Gisborne later this year!

With a NZ U20 Women’s Touch representative in their corner, the Turtles have an exciting journey ahead!

Bring on the mahi. Bring on the challenge. Bring on Gisborne!

From Lincoln High School to Ireland: Following a Passion for Equestrian Sport
Ex-Lincoln High School student Katie Fitzsimons has turned a lifelong passion for equestrian sport into an exciting international opportunity and is currently working at a leading eventing yard in Ireland.

During Katie's time at Lincoln High School, she was an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the school's equestrian programme, making the most of every opportunity to develop her skills and pursue her goals.
Katie enjoyed outstanding success throughout her junior years, winning multiple national titles in Showing and Dressage, particularly on ponies. In February 2025, she achieved the prestigious New Zealand Pony Club β€˜A’ Certificate, an accomplishment earned by only around ten riders nationwide each year. Katie also proudly represented Canterbury on numerous occasions in both Dressage and Eventing, highlighting her talent, dedication, and versatility across multiple equestrian disciplines.

Katie is especially grateful for the dedication and commitment of Ms Frampton, acknowledging the countless hours invested in supporting equestrian students. She credits Ms Frampton's encouragement, expertise, and enthusiasm with helping students build confidence, develop their skills, and foster a lifelong passion for the sport.

Katie encourages current Lincoln High School students with an interest in horses and equestrian competition to get involved, join a team, and make the most of the opportunities, experiences, and friendships that the programme provides.

Katie, we are incredibly proud of all that you have achieved and the way you are pursuing your passion on the international stage. We wish you every success in Ireland and look forward to following your future achievements in the equestrian world.

WHAT. A. GAME!!!

9–9 DRAW!

The Staff Dream Team held their nerve right to the final whistle… and somehow we’re still calling that a staff victory!

Nobody could split them β€” what a battle! πŸ”₯ But let’s be honest… a draw feels suspiciously like a win when you’re on the staff team!

Huge congratulations to ALL our staff and students who took part. What an awesome day of competition, fun and school spirit!

And ultimately, there was one clear winner…
