We sensed some tired tamariki who needed a re-set as they headed into their Friday afternoon. We enjoyed a “rest room” after lunch and then some yoga to slowly re-activate the mind and the body. It was ātaahua to see the tamariki acknowledge this need in their physical and emotional wellbeing and engage with these gentle moments provided.

What started as a small act of manakitanga to make a card for a Dad with an ouchie, turned into an ātaahua learning experience.
Working with stickers helps strengthen the small muscles in our hands, supporting the development of fine motor skills needed for tasks such as holding pens and pencils.
The tamariki loved choosing who they would make cards for, sharing the special messages they wanted written, and carefully selecting stickers to decorate. Our art tepu was a busy space this afternoon, filled with engaged tamariki!

Ngā mihi to all our whānau who supported us with our food collection for Waltham Community Cottage - it was a huge success and we are so proud of the Manakitanga our Poppies community shows ❤️
We hope you enjoyed the yummy baking too 🧁
A thank you from the Cottage:
“We are incredibly grateful to receive a donation of food for the Waltham Community Cottage emergency cupboard. These donations help support local individuals and whānau who may be facing difficult times, providing enough food to help them get through a few days when needed most.
At Waltham Community Cottage, we work alongside our community to create connection, support, and a welcoming space where people feel cared for and valued. Thank you for helping us continue this important mahi.”

The Prepschool would love some large pine cones to make bird feeders next week if you have collected any on your forest walks ☺️
To all our mums, nans, and special wāhine - Happy Mother’s Day 💐💕
What a wonderful trip we had to the Christchurch Pop-up Museum with a small group of Prepschool tamariki. The Dinosaur exhibition sparked so much excitement, and tamariki loved exploring all the other amazing displays.
We enjoyed a beautiful hīkoi through the city - spotting the tram, statues, and fountains, and spending time by the Avon Awa where we saw tuna and rākiraki. The bus ride was, as always, a highlight and we love hearing happy chitter chatter amongst the tamariki, ka mau te wehi!
Ngā mihi nui to our awesome whānau helpers - we couldn’t do it without you.
