“Children have an anxious concern for living beings, and therefore the satisfaction of this instinct fills them with delight. It is therefore easy to interest them in taking care of plants and especially of animals. Nothing awakens foresight in a small child, who lives as a rule for the passing moment and without care for the morrow, so much as this”. Maria Montessori

Tahi have been enjoying exploring our numeracy activities and Rylah is working hard with our hundreds board. Exploring the hundreds board supports children to recognise number patterns, sequence numerals, and develop confidence in counting to 100. Though hands on learning, tamariki strengthen their understanding of order and relationships between numbers.
“Never help a child with a task at which she feels she can succeed.” Maria Montessori.

Today in Te Kākano we had lots of fun celebrating Yee Haw day. Our tamariki transformed into little cowboy and cowgirls and enjoyed lots of hands-on messy takaro - play experiences. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store. 🤠🐄🚜
The child gives us a beautiful lesson – that in order to form and maintain our intelligence, we must use our hands.” - Maria Montessori

We were lucky enough to visit Rowley Primary School today. Our oldest 6 children set off ready to explore this morning. We enjoyed learning about letters P and T. We then wrote a story and drew a picture about it. Some of our children even wrote their name. Most exciting part was exploring the outdoor playground. We can’t wait to visit again next month 🥰
