We brought the boys’ love of cars into our Montessori work cycle with a fun car cutting and number-matching activity! After a quick demonstration, our tamariki got straight to work cutting out their cars, matching the numbers and gluing them into the correct parking spaces. 🚙 There was lots of concentration, careful scissor work and kōrero about their favourite cars, all while sharing resources and working alongside their friends. Ka rawe, boys! Amazing work! 🌟

Today ngā tamariki welcomed spring and embraced every opportunity to spend time outside with their friends, exploring, playing and enjoying each other’s company. Our Montessori environment feels warm, inviting and full of opportunities for discovery and connection. As Maria Montessori reminds us, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.” 🌼☀️

This morning, we brought a little sensory play into our work cycle, and the result was messy hands, big smiles, and lots of joyful learning! 🌿✨ Through exploring different textures, scooping, pouring, and using their hands, ngā tamariki are developing concentration, coordination, independence, and a deeper awareness of their senses. As Maria Montessori said, “The hands are the instruments of man’s intelligence.”

Earth Week in Rua! 🌎

Our tamariki have been busy exploring our beautiful planet Earth through some fun hands-on learning! We created delicious Earth cookies and enjoyed a bubbly science experiment, using blue and green to represent our oceans and land.

A fun way to encourage curiosity, creativity and a love for learning about our world! 🌏✨

For our school readiness programme we are lucky to explore different primary schools in our community. Today we ventured off to Rowley Ave School. We enjoyed learning about geometry and writing. Children have the opportunity to become familiar with classroom spaces, can know what to expect which helps support their transition to school. Promotes tuakana-teina, children modelling routines and supporting younger children through positive relationships.

Celebrating Daffodil Day today, with lots of bright ataata smiles, bright colours and even a visit from a baby lamb in fancy dress. The sun was out and we are so thankful to all of our whānau for all their donations for such a beautiful cause. 💛🌼☀️
