A bit of a full-circle moment seeing this sitting inside DediKate.
I studied a Bachelor of Physical Education and the start of my career was focussed on helping people move more, get stronger and look after their health.
I vividly remember standing in front of a group one day in Perth, I was working as an Exercise Physiologist in Corporate Health, and I thought to myself, why is there a bunch of highly educated, intelligent people, who desperately want to change, have the best program to do it, but are battling with it?
So many people knew what to do. They wanted to exercise. They understood why it mattered. They often had great programmes and plenty of information.
And yet, actually doing it consistently still felt really hard.
I realised that if I wanted to help more people create meaningful, lasting change, I wanted to understand more about the person behind the behaviour.
That curiosity eventually led me into coaching, behaviour change and the work I do now -helping people understand themselves better so they can work with themselves, rather than constantly feeling like they need more discipline or motivation.
And now, many years later, that work has found its way back into the health and fitness space.
I’ve created a six-part Mindset Series for DediKate - Online Fitness Community , designed to sit alongside the incredible fitness & health support already on the platform.
It’s about the part that happens between knowing what would support you and actually being able to follow through - understanding your patterns, making it easier to start, navigating the weeks when life gets messy, building self-trust and learning how to begin again without turning it into a big dramatic ‘restart’.
It feels incredibly special to bring these two parts of my career together. And a massive shout out to Kate for recognising the benefit of these conversations for her members.
Because movement matters enormously.
And understanding yourself can make it so much easier to keep choosing it. ❤️
