At Monday's social gathering there were many and varied works shared.
1. Diane Bennett, playing with various techniques using yarn from her stash. It will most likely end up being a cushion
2. Diane's Aunty, artist Mada Morrison, made this using mohair
3. Kaye dyed this using the microwave.
4. Jessica made this delightful cowl - stylishly modeled by Gillian
5. Diane White used her handspun yarn to make this child's jersey
6. The front of Jessica's vest, plus another gorgeous purple vest with matching arm warmers
7. And the back of the vest.

Learn to spin your own yarn!
These classes will give you a great base to set you off on your spinning journey.
All Packages include four (4) classes and wool provided for your learning.
Package 1: $40 Use your own wheel
Package 2: $90 Buy a wheel from the club
Package 3: $35 Join the club, annual fee, (includes wheel hire)
Classes will be held on Sunday afternoons in Balclutha at the Creative Art Centre, Clyde Street
Start date TBD.

Olga Pavlenko (trading as WoolDon Felting) has moved closer to us – from Clinton to Balclutha – yay! She is a master felter and here are some of the pieces she had with her today.

‘Roses Dream’ is a collar from felted fine merino with embroidery embellishments.
‘Centipede’ is fine felted merino with viscose decoration –
The felted hat to match 'Centipede' is made with the same decoration.
‘Hazelnut’ is fine merino, silk, viscose and Wensleydale locks.

Olga will be facilitating a workshop on felted mittens on Sat 12th September.

At Club day on Thursday we had members share their work.

Tanya Hickman has been playing with her new (to her) 4-shaft table loom. This is a table runner made using left over cottons from other projects plus strips of sari fabric. A great first honeycomb project, taken from Handwoven magazine Winter 2025 edition.

Dorothy Coburn (our centenarian member!) has created this beautiful cardigan from her hand spun yarn.

Rita is spinning some interestingly dyed fiber to produce some fine yarn.
