Dear Saint Kentigern Community member
I am very pleased to be able to tell you the Saint Kentigern Trust Board has completed an agreement for the sale of the current site of our Girls’ School and Preschool on Remuera Road, and I have copied below a short statement we are also making available to relevant media on this today.
As noted in the statement, we are particularly pleased the Auckland Hebrew Congregation will be taking ownership: retaining the site’s educational heritage and also providing for our Girls’ School and Preschool to enjoy uninterrupted use of the current campus until they are ready to move to the new purpose-built facilities that will be constructed at the Shore Road campus.
I hope you will join with me in welcoming this as a significant step in advancing the master plan for the Shore Road campus and in providing for the needs of future generations of Saint Kentigern students.
We look forward to updating you more fully on other areas of progress with the master plan over the coming fortnight.
Kind regards
Dr John Kernohan

Saint Kentigern confirms sale of Remuera Road campus to Auckland Hebrew Congregation
8 April 2019
The Saint Kentigern Trust Board is delighted to confirm it has completed an agreement for the sale of the current site of its Girls’ School and Preschool on Remuera Road to the Auckland Hebrew Congregation.
“This outcome follows a competitive tender process in which we were very pleased by the high level of interest shown in the property, and particularly delighted to see that it will now continue to meet the needs of another faith-based community,” Dr John Kernohan, Chairman of the Trust Board, said.
“We understand that the Auckland Hebrew Community may also be using some of the campus as an educational facility, which sits very well with its heritage with both Saint Kentigern and Corran School before us.
“Pleasingly, this outcome provides for continued uninterrupted use of the Remuera Road campus by our Girls’ School and Preschool until they move to their new facilities at the Shore Road campus.”
The sale gives financial certainty to Saint Kentigern in proceeding with a master plan for the Shore Road campus which will include new Boys’ School Senior classrooms, the construction of a separate new purpose-built Girls’ School, new specialist classrooms for Science, Technology and the Performing Arts, and a new Preschool in providing for current and future generations of students.
Saint Kentigern will advance and provide more information on planning for new facilities at its Pakuranga Road Campus over coming months.
Saint Kentigern has longstanding and warm ties with the Auckland Jewish community, making this outcome especially welcome, Dr Kernohan said.
