The John Haigh QC Memorial Moot Finals Recap!

This moot honours the legacy of John Haigh QC through advocacy and excellence. We were grateful to have his family join us in commemorating his impact in the legal world.

A massive thank you to Scott Optican for being the registrar, our incredible finals judges - Hon. Justice Kawharu, Hon. Justice O’Gorman and Ellie Harrison for their time and expertise.

And of course to our finalists, Eliza Chin & Grace Kuo and our winners, Joe Howells & Megan Cartwright - a massive congratulations!

The 2026 Stout Shield Moot is back!

Get ready for Auckland Law School’s most prestigious mooting competition that has been running since the 1940s! Winners of the Stout Shield will go on to represent Auckland at the NZLSA National Mooting Championships later this year.

*open for Part III and IV students only*

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• Sign-ups open - Friday 8th May | 6pm�• Sign-ups close - Sunday 10th May | 6pm�• Preliminary rounds - Monday 21st May |6pm-9pm�• Finals - Friday 28th May | TBC

HOW IT WORKS:
• Register individually, but you can nominate a preferred partner
• Progression to the finals is individual
• The first 8 pairs will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis�
• The remaining 8 pairs will be selected by random ballot

The Mooting Society is excited to be running a LexisNexis How to Research Workshop on Wednesday the 29th of April!

This is a great workshop for those wanting to sharpen their research skills, particularly for the LAW201 written submission assignment.

You will hear from LexisNexis with some of their tips for research and some past LAW201 students with some of their tips for the assignment.
