Parents... and graduates... this is worth reading.

Graduating should be exciting. Instead, for many young people, it becomes months of unanswered applications, rejection emails and mounting self-doubt.

Parents often say to us, "They've done everything they were told to do, they studied hard, they earned the qualification. Why can't they get a job?"

The answer is simple: a qualification gets you into the race, but it doesn't teach you how to win it.

Universities produce qualified graduates, but they don't teach them how to market themselves, build professional networks, interview confidently, communicate their value or navigate an increasingly competitive job market.

That's where CRE8 Collective, Emerging Talent, gets results.

We don't offer a one-off CV review or a generic interview session. We work alongside every graduate through personalised, one-on-one mentoring, guiding them from uncertainty to employment. We are recruiters who have decades of experience and know both sides of the table.

Together, we build a professional CV, optimise LinkedIn, prepare for interviews, develop networking skills, identify opportunities, connect them with our networks where appropriate, and coach them every step of the way.

Most importantly, we build confidence because employers don't just hire qualifications; they hire people.

We're incredibly proud to say that every graduate we've mentored has secured employment, many of whom spent six-plus months applying unsuccessfully before reaching out to us. We can prove this claim.

This is a paid service, and it's intentional. It brings together decades of recruitment, HR and commercial experience, extensive employer networks, and genuine one-on-one support. We invest our time, knowledge and connections in every graduate because launching a career shouldn't be left to chance.

One of our graduates, Will Wright, who secured two job offers via CRE8 Emerging Talent, said it best:

"What they do not teach you in school or university is that once you have the degree or know what you want to do, the hard part is actually getting an interview. As we know, in New Zealand, it is very much about whom you know, not just what you know. Kate is well connected across almost every industry, and if she isn't, she will make it her mission to find you a connection. If you are at a point in your career where you need direction, guidance, or simply someone in your corner who genuinely wants to see you succeed, I cannot recommend Kate enough."

– Will Wright

If you're a parent watching your son or daughter lose confidence as they try to enter the workforce, know that you don't have to navigate this alone.

If you're a graduate who feels like you're doing everything right but still getting nowhere, there is another way.

A graduate signed a job offer utilising Emerging Talent at CRE8 Collective.

Hi Kate,

Firstly, thanks for your support over the last couple of months. Really appreciate how you've gone above and beyond in making sure every decision I've made has been made with real thought and confidence.

I've signed the contract with X and start on the 21st, so I won't be continuing the interview process with Y.

Thanks again for everything!

WW

CRE8 Emerging Talent.

“Torn between two jobs”

A few months ago, this graduate was doing what many emerging professionals do, applying for roles, sending out CVs and trying to navigate the job market alone.

Despite having the capability, they struggled to gain traction and found themselves questioning what they were doing wrong.

Fast forward eight weeks, and they are now weighing up not one, but two job offers from working with CRE8 Emerging Talent.

The difference was strategy, support, confidence and having someone walk beside them through every step of the process. Every step.

Over the past eight weeks, we worked closely, one-on-one, providing practical and personalised support every step of the way.

The level of support was close, practical and highly personalised and most importantly, as recruiters, we know how the employment market works!

After months and months of trying to do it alone, they now find themselves facing a very different challenge, deciding between two opportunities they are genuinely excited about.

Emerging talent graduates & first-time job seekers don’t need rescuing

It needs guidance, encouragement, access to experience and someone willing to invest in potential. We don't guarantee you a job, but we will do everything we can!

The right support changes everything. Congratulations to our graduate on an incredible result.

Being torn between two job offers is a pretty good problem to have!

Why Emerging Talent exists.

A recent Finance and Economics graduate came to us looking for his first full-time opportunity. On paper, he has the degree you'd expect, but it was everything outside the degree that made us stop.

While completing his university studies, he spent 6 years coordinating international export logistics, managing the end-to-end movement of hundreds of shipments with 100% documentation accuracy. He worked across commercial and residential property investments, analysing acquisitions, financial performance and investment opportunities to support real business decisions.

Rather than waiting until he knew how to build technology, he taught himself new development platforms, AI tools, and large language models to turn a simple idea into a working prototype for a first-home-buyer application. At the same time, he ran his own landscaping business while studying full-time.

Those achievements are impressive.

After spending time with him, it became obvious what his mindset was.
He's naturally curious; he asks thoughtful questions rather than pretending to know all the answers. He enjoys solving problems, takes ownership without being asked, and genuinely wants to understand how businesses work. He's commercially mature beyond his years, not because of the title on his CV, but because he's consistently put himself in environments that have required him to learn, adapt and deliver.

Those qualities are difficult to teach; they are often what separates good employees from exceptional ones.

His academic record reinforces that mindset. He was selected for an exchange at Copenhagen Business School from a highly competitive field of applicants, has completed Bloomberg certifications, is preparing to sit CFA Level I, and has consistently challenged himself beyond what was required, but perhaps the strongest indicator of future success is that he has never waited for opportunity to come to him; he has gone out and created it.

At CRE8 Emerging Talent, we believe the transition from university into the workforce shouldn't be defined by what someone hasn't done yet. It should be defined by what they've already demonstrated they can become.

This is exactly the type of graduate we love introducing to businesses.

Someone who won't arrive knowing everything, but someone who will arrive asking the right questions, learning quickly and adding value from day one.

We see him thriving in commercial finance, investment analysis, corporate finance, property investment, business analysis, strategy or operational roles where curiosity, commercial thinking and initiative are valued as highly as technical ability.

We have absolutely no doubt he'll build an outstanding career. The only question is, which organisation will recognise his potential?

Reach out if you want to know more about him. NO FEE is charged. CRE8 Talent wants grads to work.

A ground-level view of business in 2026 so far

As a mentor to a wide range of business owners, I get a real-time view of how businesses are actually performing, not just what gets posted online.

I see the full spectrum. Revenue. Growth. Pressure points. Motivation. Marketing. Operations. Competition. The conversations people have when they’re being honest.

Many started 2026 with genuine hope that it would be better than the last few years. Business owners tend to be optimistic by nature, but the smart ones are also pragmatic. They’re asking sharper questions: about diversifying revenue, spreading risk, and pursuing the low-hanging fruit that actually keeps small businesses moving.

From what I’m seeing, there are signs of improvement. I’m seeing more wins come through from the businesses I work with regularly. But to be clear, that’s still a small percentage, and it’s not widespread yet.

Costs are up. Good staff are harder to find and even harder to keep. The businesses doing best aren’t defaulting to generic incentives; they’re tailoring them. They’re paying attention to what this person values, not what leadership assumes should motivate everyone.

Marketing remains a constant pressure point. Not because people aren’t trying, but because “authentic” has become a buzzword. The real work is understanding what authenticity actually looks like for your business, how it lands with your audience, and whether it translates into trust and action.
2026 is a refinement year.

The businesses that adjust with intent, not panic, are the ones quietly pulling ahead.

If you’re a business owner feeling this tension and want a clear view of where to focus next, I’m always open to a grounded, practical conversation.

At 55 years old, on average, you have 27 years left.

That number lands differently for everyone. I’m still reeling.

The past is done; you’ve had many lessons and paid for them.

There’s nothing left to prove. The present now needs to become much sharper, more vital to live your life.

If you stop and listen to yourself, your brain is probably telling you to stop carrying expectations and obligations that no longer feel right.

But most women don’t know where to start, how to change, or how to bring it back into life.

Places like Bali don’t soften you, it strips away noise.

With less urgency, the truth gets louder. What matters becomes obvious.

So does what has quietly overstayed its welcome.

This stage of life isn’t about reinvention.

It’s about accuracy.

Living in alignment with who you already are without apology, without delay.

That’s the thinking behind my Bali Reset Retreat this May.

Not an escape, it's a deliberate pause.

A space to decide how the next 27 years are actually lived, with precision, simplicity, and choice.

Because 27 years is generous, not for drifting.

9.05pm, 13/8/25, my husband collapsed to the floor

It was a stroke and a bad one.

From the outside, I feel people who look at me think one thing, but what I feel is very different at times.

That moment changed our lives forever. I’m not going to go into the details, but I will tell you that the life we had will never be back.

That’s been the hardest adjustment of all. My life has been about us working to have flexibility, freedom, and space. But the universe said otherwise.

I’ve refracted more than you can imagine. Why me? What are you teaching me? Don’t you think I’ve had enough extreme life lessons?

No, have another.

From this event, I’ve learnt that one of the spaces I work, working with women who have gone or are going through big changes, is my soul space.

I was born into having to survive from the moment I came into this world, and I’ve fought for everything, and at times I was so empty I wasn’t sure I could make it through the slams I received from business, especially. But I did.

What I’m trying to say to women out there who feel that pain, there is a way forward. You just need someone who gets it and has the personal and professional experience to help. I will help.

Spent the day in Wellington with a business that has a strong offering, great people, but broken internals.

I led a four-hour workshop with all the staff, including the leadership team. What’s working, what isn’t, where the holes are, and what the go-forward needs to be.

No blame. Just clarity.

I loved it, sitting inside a business long enough to see what’s really happening, then helping them to make the decisions because everything felt too tangled.

If you know your business is good but isn't running cleanly, and the outlook looks heavier than it should, I suspect the issue isn’t the market but the machine behind it.

I’ll give you a clear and consultative perspective. Thirty years of building, running and selling a company has given me the experience. I can help, just ask.

01/02/2026

Never built a business. Taken that risk. Don’t mentor me.

Most haven’t.

They’ve analysed, but never executed.

Advised, but never felt the constant pressure.

Never been responsible for employees and the lives of their families.

They’ve never made decisions with real-life consequences.

Never carried payroll, reputation, or survival.

Never learned what theory sounds like when it breaks under pressure.

Business isn’t learned in frameworks.

Risk teaches judgement and after enough of it, pressure teaches clarity.

If someone hasn’t built something, broken it, fixed it, kept going and then sold it, they’re not a mentor.

That is commentary.

If you want someone with 30 years of experience who has built something big enough to sell to a global business, who will be your confidant and business partner, who understands the pressure, and who will support you in every way, reach out.

I treat your business like it’s my own. I save you money, make you money, and save you a lot of time deliberating.
