Wool Revolution Studio Joins Tāmaki Zero Waste Hub

Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand — Wool Revolution Studio, a textile-focused
creative practice led by award-winning designer Liz Mitchell MNZM, has joined the
Tāmaki Zero Waste Hub in Glen Innes, East Auckland, as a tenant, bringing hands-
on textile workshops and community skill-sharing to the growing circular economy
hub.
The studio’s work centres on giving new life to discarded textiles and fibres,
transforming them through felting and textile manipulation into functional and artistic
pieces. As a tenant at the Hub, Wool Revolution Studio will deliver workshops
focused on repair, reuse, and creative upcycling, and provide access to needle
felting machines for community use.
“Textile waste is one of the fastest-growing and most complex waste streams,” said
Liz Mitchell. “The Tāmaki Zero Waste Hub is a unique environment to explore
practical and creative responses — a space where materials are continuously
recovered and redistributed, allowing for real experimentation, education, and
transformation.”
The studio’s approach aligns with the Hub’s core values of kaitiakitanga (care for the
environment), whanaungatanga (community connection), and akoranga (learning
through doing).

Felted light shade is a commission piece. A family archive lampshade is transformed with wool fibre and felted yarn. Light is a wonderful addition to illuminate the fibrous texture. Loving the developments that are showcased in our Grey Lynn Atelier.

Dorset Horn ram at Agrodome’s farm show. Such a wonderful creature with his horns and quiet nature. Sheep dogs barking, jumping on the sheep’s back and children everywhere. An impressive tourist experience with the opportunity to see a sheep shorn, lambs springing across the barn, bottle feeding a lamb, sheep dogs and their animal wrangling skills with a backdrop of many of New Zealand’s sheep breeds, sitting watching over everyone. It is a fantastic experience.
