Our young rockstars absolutely blew us away, bringing home fantastic results across the board:

We have an exciting message to share from our Principal:
Kia ora e te whānau,
It is with immense pride and excitement that I share the results of our Education Review Office (ERO) evaluation conducted in Term 2. The ERO team visited Glen Eden Intermediate to evaluate our school's performance, and their findings are a wonderful validation of the hard work and dedication shown by our staff, students, and community. I am incredibly proud to announce that we received the highest possible judgement of "Excelling" across multiple critical areas, including student achievement, progress, teaching, and equity.
To give you a snapshot of our success, I have collated eight key highlights and direct quotes from the ERO report:
- Reading and Writing: ERO judged us as ‘Excelling’ in literacy, stating that "Almost all learners are meeting or exceeding curriculum expectations in reading and writing."
- Overall Achievement: Our core academic outcomes were also rated as ‘Excelling’, with the report highlighting that "Almost all students experience high levels of success and achieve well in core areas."
- Student Progress: The review found that we are ‘Excelling’ at helping students grow academically, noting that "The school significantly improves achievement and progress for all learners working at or above expectations during their time at the school."
- Quality of Teaching: We received an ‘Excelling’ judgement for our educators, with ERO observing that "Teaching practices are consistently high quality and contribute to high levels of students' success across the school."
- Wellbeing and Belonging: ERO rated our engagement as ‘Excelling’, recognising that "Students at the school feel valued and supported in a school culture that strongly promotes wellbeing and inclusion."
- Equity for All: Our commitment to fairness was rated ‘Excelling’, because "The school consistently identifies and addresses barriers so that all learners experience success."
- Effective Assessment: We achieved an ‘Excelling’ mark for how we track learning, with the report stating, "Assessment is regular, reliable and used well to adjust teaching and learning."
- Care for International Students: Reviewers praised our pastoral care systems, concluding that "The school's provision for international students is highly effective."
These results are a massive achievement and a direct reflection of our shared school vision of 'empowering learners for the future'. While we will always continue to work on our next steps for improvement, this report gives us tremendous confidence that our focus on quality teaching, wellbeing, and inclusive practices is making a real, measurable difference.
Thank you all for your ongoing support in making Glen Eden Intermediate such an exceptional place for our children to learn and grow.

Some excellent news to start the week! Two teams went to Rotorua to compete in the Robocup nationals. Both teams went above and beyond to learn new coding techniques and create spectacular robotic theatre.
GEIS placed 3rd place! We are so proud of them. They told the story of 'the battle of the mountains', a Pūrakau of the four mountain warriors: Tongariro, Taranaki, Tauhara, and Pūtauaki, who fought for the beautiful maiden mountain, Pīhanga. The warrior mountains fought for her affections, and after a long battle, Tongariro emerged the winner.
Imagine this story with little robots!
Congratulations to the team and to Ms Woolford!
