We had two full on weeks of Initial Instructor Training over the April School Holidays.

We held two courses and had over 25 trainees involved and working towards becoming qualified Swim Teachers.

💦 Over the holidays we ran our Initial Instructor Training Course for 9 excited and eager to learn new instructors! 💦

The course ran for 5 full days where trainees got involved with both theory and practical training for both school-age and preschool levels.

We can't wait to see and hear all about how there getting on as we check in on them over the next few months!

Last week we were out at Massey High School delivering our Level 3 Swim Instructor Training Course to new instructors from the Korean Swim School & Dean Greenwood Swim School!

They had a full on three days of training which was both theory and practical based. Now the new trainees are working towards completing their on the job training where they complete lesson planning, evaluations and a health and safety component before they have their final assessment!

Pool Lifeguard Training is another one of our area's of expertise and we have two courses coming up in December!

The qualification is known as Pool Lifeguard Skills Award (PLSA) & Pool Lifeguard Practicing Certificate (PLPC) and helps supports on the job training.

Our course will prepare you to firstly prevent, and then respond to emergency aquatic situations.
We will also cover:
➡️Pool lifeguard roles and responsibilities
➡️Communication techniques
➡️Identifying and managing risks, hazards and people
➡️Pool supervision techniques;
➡️Drowning prevention
➡️Rescues and emergencies (in and out of water)
➡️Dealing with multiple casualties;
➡️Casualty follow up and after care
➡️Incident and accident reporting

Meet Ashleigh our Swim Teacher Trainer & Assesor!

Ashleigh has over 10 years experience in the swim school industry having started off as a part-time teacher whilst studying and complete her Teaching Degree.
As a qualified secondary school teacher, she saw the opportunity to apply these skills in the aquatic industry. After graduating she took up a full-time position as a swim school Site Manager, along with responsibilities for designing a swim instructor training programme.
Since then, she has completely rewritten and constantly improved the programme in order to achieve an effective and efficient way of training new instructors so they can feel confident and productive from day 1.

In addition to this, she has presented at national industry conferences and in local schools. Her passion is people and how to engage with individuals and teams. This is what she loves about facilitating courses; "every single group is different, and we can always learn something new – much like swim teaching!"

👉👉Checkout our first NZAET Swim Teacher Training Course which we conducted back at the end of September!

The 3 day course is part of our New Zealand Qualification in Aquatics, Swim & Water Safety Teacher (L3).

Throughout the course trainees gained both theory knowledge and in water practical skills so that they feel prepared and confident to start their swim teaching career.

Post course trainees complete a series of lesson planning and evaluations for classes they are taking with assistance of a senior support teacher. Once that's completed there are then undergo a final assessment before they achieve the qualification!

We are excited to announce the offical launch of NZ Aquatic Education & Training!

We offer Swim Instructor and Pool Lifeguard training which is fully accredited by Skills Active. The course design has been built by people who work in the aquatic industry daily, so we know what is required to make a great swim instructor or lifeguard on a practical level.

We offer an exceptional level of service with pre-course preparation; course participation and most importantly post-course follow up to ensure attendees are fully prepared and will ensure productivity from day 1 for their new employer.
